Replica Houge Trailing Arms

Post by duckhead »

I have been working on a project with a friend of mine that has taken shape much faster than originally anticipated...

I ran quite a few iterations of Houge trailing arm cars back in the late '80s / early '90s and they were and are by far my favorite. In my opinion, nothing looks cooler than these type of cars.

After returning back to the hobby recently, I have since regretted getting rid of all my RC stuff from when I was younger, especially my original Houge car with the highly sought-after aluminum version arms.

Some months back I got lucky and nabbed one on eBay and this project took shape. I have even had the honor of exchanging emails with Mike Houge who is now busy in full scale racing with his son Lucas. We chatted about the original designs and he offered help with the project best he could, as he is very busy.

Some of you may or may not know this but I also came to find out Mike did all the design and mold work for Andy's RC as well. Pretty cool...

Without further delay, here is the culmination of a bunch of hours of design and manufacturing work:

When it comes to the selling/pricing, please save that stuff for a BST post. Thanks.

Due to you basically posting a sale ad on the wrong forum section, you should have taken a pounding from the mods. You're getting out of this pretty much unscathed, which you should consider a proof that your work is appreciated. Good stuff!

Now go take it to the BST! ;)

Thanks guys for the feedback, I went ahead and modified the post, I can see where you are coming from. An "ad" was totally not my intent and was specifically why I started the thread with apologies if it was posted in the wrong forum. I just wanted to contribute something meaningful is all.

I was simply excited and Ruffy was one of the folks who inspired me to take the plunge on this project with this thread here: http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=14968&hilit=Houge+Trailing+Arm&start=45 in this same sub-forum, it had pricing information, etc. so I figured I'd start here.

Apologies...

There are a couple great Houge threads on these forums especially the one you just mentioned.

The other thread I mentioned earlier in this thread by Ruffy was my inspiration to take on this project.

I didn't want to detract from those threads by posting our work on there, hope you enjoy it
