Need resident gurus help.

Post by DaveM »

Hi Guys,

Can anyone identify the transmission in this buggy from these two pics?

I hope I am right, I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Cheers, Dave. :)

MIP SP-1. I was tempted by that auction. ;)

The other give away was in the pic of the car's underside there were only two screws in the 6-gear holes to mount the transmission.

Grats on the buy. Some good parts and the chassis looks like it's in very solid shape.

Thank you for confirming it is a SP-1.

Hopefully no problems, I should get it in 7 - 14 days.

Hi Guys,

Another question,

Do you think this is a Composite Craft chassis?

Cheers, Dave. :)

Hi Guys,

I found this pic in Hobby shop, Hop-Up Hints,

http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=82&t=28010

Page 15, I have this magazine and it is exactly the same,

Six small holes down each edge of the chassis.

I just searched 98 pages for Composite Craft and there are no builds I can see with this chassis.

It must be rare!

Cheers, Dave. :)

Composite Craft, Trinity, or Parma...all sold that same exact chassis under their own header card.

Not very rare but hard to find one in good shape. I'd say they're not as common as a stock AE carbon team chassis, but not as rare as a TQ10's. Your chassis pre-dates both of those by 2-3 years though.

Hi Phin,

Thank you for your input, much appreciated.

So, the chassis could be one of several different brands.

The plan with this buggy was to strip it for parts, but now I am thinking I might do a restore on it.

The Andys front arms predate the Team Associated wide arms, the MIP SP-1 predates the stealth.

It looks to be a very early modified buggy, a real time capsule!

Cheers, Dave. :)

Hi jwscab,

Thank you, it just seems wrong to strip this one for parts.

Cheers, Dave. :)
