How much to pay for a roller?

Post by Jimbo302 »

I've been looking to pick up another rc10 to build. I have been looking at rollers and other long time storage cars that are cheaper, with preference given to anything with a stealth transmission.

I don't want to overpay when I buy. I had planned for under $100, but not seeing a lot in that range. Am I shooting too low, should I up my budget or just wait for a deal?

If it was me, I'd wait and see if I could scrape up enough money ($199) for one of Associateds new Worlds car rollers. They just announced these a day or two ago. This way you get a nice car, that hasn't been beat to death by it's previous owner. For what it's going to cost to find a decent old car, you can have a new one to play with, and not worry that you're ruining an old one.

I paid 75 for a graphite chassis 6 gear the other day. Also came with some nice aluminum wheels which looking at sold auctions on eBay should sell for my purchase price on their own. Granted, my car took a lot of elbow grease to get back into nice condition, I probably have ten hours of my own labor in it but I still think I got a good deal. Keep watching craigslist!

I'd buy this ina heartbeat if I didn't already have one. Seriously, that's a great deal. Now if you can get it for the $149 the guy mentioned, that's a downright steal.

That's a good deal for sure. I'm just about done with my Worlds Car Re-Re and will be hitting the track with it next week. Like the other guys said, it's a good option for a car to run without worrying about destroying a old original one. I do all the restoration work on my original cars, then I don't want to get them dirty or break them trying to run them....lol

Are your steering bellcranks really mint green, or is it just the picture?

Yeah, they are minty green, they look like glow in the dark parts...lol, I don't know what they were thinking.

I was short a couple RPM ball cups to do the servo turnbuckle, have to pick some up. I'm also waiting on someone to get some of the Jconcepts aluminum bell cranks back in stock, supposed to be coming back in June I guess. When I was first building the car, I tried to use the kit supplied bushings in the bell cranks, everything fit so tight the steering was binding up. I picked up some bearings, installed those and the steering is nice and loose. I want to do the aluminum bell cranks because the plastic ones have a lot of flex.

Wow, wierd. The ones on my re-re are normal color, but mine is also older than yours.

They are out of stock everywhere. I thought they were discontinued. I bought the D-Hawk bellcrank set instead.

So I ended up spending $78 on a B3. It came with a pair of tires, a FM tx and rx, and and extra motor.
