Graphite chassis rc10 6 gear

So, I found a local rc10 for sale. No info in the Craigslist add, but the picture seemed interesting so I checked it out. Turned out to be a 6 gear car with long arms, and partial truck conversion, sort of:

So, I bought it. Couldn't resist. Brought it home and started trying to figure it out. The black parts were throwing me off. I didn't know what it was.

Upon disassembly, I realized the parts were all dyed black, so nothing strange there. So I redyed all the parts to blacken them back up again.

And now she's coming together.

I'm not really sure what to do with her though. I have a Slash (oh the scandal!) for track use, so she will maybe be a shelf queen till I need the space. I did run her up and down the street, I was surprised how quiet the 6 gear is.

If you do continue to run it, zip tie the motor wires away from the shock.

Personally, I'd keep it, and run it. I too have a Slash, for track duty too (not much left stock), and also a few RC10's, and a B5M. I run them all, at the track. Different vehicles, for different things.

Good call. It was mostly a trial run, just to make sure everything worked with the ancient transmitter. I like to tuck all the wires aside if I do end up driving something. Unfortunately I dont have a good dirt area to run this stuff. I hate beating them up on the pavement.

Another question... Anyone have any idea of this connector is still made?

Seems like it would be a low resistance connection.

I've seen a lot of connectors over the years, but never seen that one. I doubt you could still get them, it looks like a different take on a Deans connector.

Connectors are from Race Prep.

What vintage are they? Period to the car? I don't remember ever seeing them back when I raced as a kid/teenager.

the race prep connectors are from the way way back

My first race prep from back before I was on ANTR AffordableNitroTechRacing (?...NitroDan's board) had a pack of these come with them and that had to be the mid 90's at least. I've seen them in pix of them on cars from the late 80's I believe. There is a thread somewhere talking about Mike Dunn and Race Prep. Should be able to find something in there with them on it.

Being I was at a nitro board and nitro was my only want for R/C they didn't do much for me and were promptly traded off with the motor for a Novarossi mt12. Little did I know that the white ceramic shafted race prep motor would come to be this popular at that time.

Not sure how exactly period correct they are, but this car wasn't driven since the early nineties, so I don't think they are much newer than that.

Back when the Deans connectors had 4 mini pins, not the 2 big ones of today.
