Dukomo JD beckwith replica
Hi all
I thought I would share with you my latest toy car resto i have always loved the yokomos so naturally wanted one of these since first seeing Duals on here way back when and then DJ gonzos, so now I have one I thought I would show you all some pics. Having done a bit of research on these (there's not much out there) I can say this is a fairly complete car with pretty much all the dukomo options that were available at the time and would have been quite an expensive bit of kit as you would have started with a works 91-92 or 93 and would have bought all the extras one at a time as I don't think there was one conversion kit with everything in it? But anyway if you had the money you would have had a car that would of really stood out from the usual yokomos and lazers of the time as well as a pretty strong lightweight racer. I built it to be period correct for late 93 and I am thinking that would have been about the end of its life from a race point of view as the yokomo worlds 93 wcs was kind of out in small numbers and very soon to be replaced by the yz10 which took over pretty much the whole 4wd scene for 94-96 until the losi xx4 came about. This car has a real nice quality about it and I my opinion a much better car than the standard yokomo and I guess that is the point of it not just bling factor but a real weapon in the right hands as was shown at the 93 worlds where it made the A main in the hands of its creator.

Awesome build there Pedro, unlike the Masami's not everyone has a Dukomo replica! I hope it stays as rare as now.

Re: Dukomo JD replica
How may dukomo versions were there? Seems like an 870c based model, and then this later version? Im also wondering about the material its cut from. Is it some kind of carbon fiber, or fiberglass?
Very nice looking car. I really like the custom Yokomo versions.
Really cool car. Were they competitive?

Re: Dukomo JD replica
this chassis layout is an 870C layout: bulkheads and motor mount. later suspension however. 870c vs later yz10 was mostly in suspension arms and shocks and different towers.
the material is a carbon fiber that has sparklies embedded in the top coat.

WOW.. you even got the Lupe Paint Job almost spot on! Good guy! Raced with him and the Baton Rouge LA quite a few times. Had his own signature style, kind of like the Andy's Body had Andy's signature style!!
Great Work!

x2Damn
Welcome to the club Pedro. Your Dukomo looks more refined compared to mine (same as DjGonzo's). I think mine is an earlier version before JD Beckwith offered them to the public.
Upon seeing the photos, I thought that was JD's actual car. Fantastic work Pedro just like all your builds. The paint came out really nice and your attention to detail is spot on.
You can see here all of the parts that JD offered in the RC Car Action advertisement http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=34113
