nagreend's past and current rc collection
I absolutely love this website, and in the spirit of increasing activity and expanding its content, I decided it was time to post my vintage collection. I bought my first hobby grade rc back in 1995, which was the entire reason why I became a paperboy. I was 13 years old and the RC10T2 had just been announced, but I had decided to stick with the tried and true RC10T. I hopped up the crap out of that car, including titanium and RPM everything (including the chassis kit!). I sold it to buy a XXT-CR Graphite Plus a couple of years later, but I recently added this one to bring back some of those memories. It looks brand new with only a small scratch on the nose plate. I'm pretty sure it has been restored, based on the mix of black and white parts, but I'm not the most knowledgeable collector. On a side note, if anybody has an extra RPM chassis laying around, let me know!
Re: nagreend's past and current rc collection
I didn't regret buying the RC10T back in 1995, but it was already being beat out by the Losi XXT, and the T2 had just been announced. My second real rc car was a XXT-CR Graphite Plus, so of course I decided I needed to add a XXT to my collection to replace the one I sold back in 1998. This one is has seen some use, but it came in fantastic shape. I decided to make this one a runner, so I took off the Hydradrive, added some RPM parts, rebuilt the shocks and transmission, and slapped in a Castle Creations Sidewinder 3 and 4600 motor. I put in an alloy diff gear from Hammad Ghuman to help handle modern electronics, but I don't know if that was necessary. I'm also stoked that Team Blue Groove is producing XXT bodies and MCI is making decals, so I don't feel so bad running this truck like it was designed to be run!
Re: nagreend's past and current rc collection
The other popular and competitive truck back in 1995 was the Traxxas SRT. For some reason, I didn't buy one of those back in the '90s, but I had to have one to sit next to my RC10T and XXT! I just happened to find a NIB SRT a few hours away on Craigslist, so I grabbed that one as fast as I could and built it up. For some reason, I decided to sell this truck to fund a mountain bike project. Of all the mistakes I have made in my life, this is the one that I keep kicking myself in the figurative balls for. I purchased a new chassis set that I will be slowly building up in the near future, but I am not holding out much hope of finding a new body.
If the guy that bought this from me is reading this, I'll pay you double what you gave me to get this back!

Re: nagreend's past and current rc collection
And finally, the most recent addition to my vintage collection is a Horizon Hobby TQ10 runner. I just got this thing running, and it's a blast! I have no real nostalgia with this car (or any buggy for that matter), but I wanted to own a part of rc history with an original RC10 of some type. I was originally going to find a nice A stamp, but after seeing Vintageguy's graphite buggy for sale, I decided I wanted a graphite RC10. This one isn't as beautiful as most of the other ones on this site, but it works well and is almost entirely original vintage with the exception of the wheels, tires, modern wheel conversions, ESC, servo, battery cup and rear bulkhead. I'm waiting on some TQ10 box art decals, but I haven't decided how I want to paint it, yet...
