Finally bought a Javelin!!
Finally bought a Javelin!!
Hi everyone, obviously I've wanted a Javelin since I was a kid.... So I found one just outside of Toronto, about 3+ hrs from my house. This car was partially assembled back in the day and never ran! It's been in the box ever since. Haha! I figured the drive was worth it, a near new Javelin for $700 Canadian (about485 us)
I always love trips like this.....I found a sweet Toyota ae86 (not for sale) a 280zx turbo (so rotten) left a note on a 73ish Sattelite and got a line on a 70 Lemans lol.
Anyways, here's a few pics of this thing...enjoy!

Re: Finally bought a Javelin!!
Great find. It looks like it's in mint condition. I hardly ever find any good deals on rc around here ( I'm in Windsor). I really like those wheels. Are they the same size as the plastic Optima wheels or bigger like the Turbo Optima wheels. I'm trying to find wheels that will fit modern day tires. I know that the Turbos wheels will work but it would be great to keep the original style.
Re: Finally bought a Javelin!!
Thanks, it was in the box unfinished until I got it:) these are the wheels that came stock...I know you can get repro tires on ebay. I just ordered a set as well as new decals. I'm near Sarnia, it was a lucky find!Grunger73 wrote:Great find. It looks like it's in mint condition. I hardly ever find any good deals on rc around here ( I'm in Windsor). Are they stock plastic wheels with a chrome finish or chromed metal wheels in stock style?DennisM wrote:Congrats - Nice catch.
The wheels are "stock" optima wheels in chrome - Only found on the Javelin.
Re: Finally bought a Javelin!!
Thanks guys, I love it! They are the wheels that came in the box from kyosho. Here's how Kyosho describes them. Lol Looks like the outer hub of the wheel is screwed to the back of the wheel.

Ah ok . Thanks for the pic. Seeing it up close I now understand exactly what he meant.

Very cool, I love these. Too bad about the 280zx, I have a soft spot for those, and own an 81 turbo.

Beautiful car!
I kick myself every time I see a Javelin!
Back in the day, my cousin had a Javelin and I only went to see him once a year before Christmas. Every year I'd ask him to sell me the car. Finely about the third year he sold it to me.
I then proceeded to do a belt drive conversion and race it. Soon after that I swapped the roll bar out for an Optima body and threw the orange roll bars away...
The only thing I have left of that car are two of the chrome wheels.

Re: Finally bought a Javelin!!
I seem to remember you could buy those chrome outer wheel halves as an option part...I never had a Javelin, only an Optima, Turbo Optima & Salute, but I have a set of those chromed wheels. Unfortunately the rims are pretty scuffed up on them.
