A Nice Set of Double D's....please show ID at the door...

Post by LoboNYC »

Double D's? ooops  my bad....i meant Double DS

Image

The Saleen Mustang is an electric RC10DS and the Nissan Sylvia GT is a Nitro RC10DS. Both the bodies are 200mm and are by HPI. The electric DS lacks ESC/Motor and receiver. The nitro DS lacks only the receiver.

Here are some solo Mustang photos

I'm no Mustang fan but that Saleen body & paint is excellent. HPI sure makes some nice bodies!

Oh my...i honestly dont know where that apostrophe came from  my apologies to thumb . Thanks for the compliment on the doubles

Thanks Coelacanth, This was the time allen home improvement mustang from HPI. unfortunately the greater part of the decals were water damaged. i managed to keep the necessary decals such as the headlights and taillights. Im a big HPI fan due in great part the their detailed decals. By the way a little info on the nissan is in order. I purchased that body from florida hobbyshop (cant remember name). The body was so well painted that you could omit the decals. it had the faint headlight glare and faint honeycomb pattern on the radiator but me being me...i chose to use the decals  .

HAHA yes, it took a long time to get that mustang, it finally popped up and i matched it to the green chassis DS which by the way i got from a member here sometime last year or more. anyway i upgraded the to an MIP ballbearing steering setup, RPM ball end caps and freshened the tranny with bearings, diff rings, balls and gear. it has no motor or esc yet.

Thanks Erik

The Nissan body is odd for me. With the exception of the Lamborghini DS, all my other bodies have been American cars.

:?: room size :?:  no need to wonder....its a small room. its all in the shelves  I have a 6 level shelf that currently holds 22 cars/trucks; one level holds tools, trailer, and parts. A second identical shelf holds collection of lexan bodies and parts (tires, wheels, paints, engines, exhaust pipes, unbuilt kits).

The wife said "dont let your RC stuff spill into the rest of the apartment!", hahaha.

this is an old pic because it only has 11 cars.

-----***ANSWER***-----

The manifold

I got this car built from a shop in Cali. I guess they assumed that an RC10GT manifold works fine on the nitro DS.

PLEASE DONT MAKE THIS ASSUMPTION WHEN BUILDING A NITRO DS.

The nitro DS manifold part #8910 exits at a higher angle than the GT manifold #7751 (photo). IF you run the GT manifold, the stock DS tire will rub when the suspension is compressed. The DS manifold exits at higher angle allowing the tire to clear and eliminating rub.

manifold on left is DS manifold; manifold on right is GT manifold
Image

If you need proper clearance but cant get a hold of manifold#8910 you can substitute with a duratrax #DTXC8272 manifold. I must give credit where credit is due...ROMULUS22 suggested i try it and it worked great. The majority of my DS collection is nitro based so having this solution is vital.

here is a sample of the duratrax manifold

Hope this helps some one out
