Re: early RC12E diff not AE
I have a MRP with the huge thrust and large nut like that..... But the Axle is two piece.. It slips over a solid Axle.... Gear looks the same too. Hmm.

Actually.... Does your diff hub setscrew to the axle? I'm starting to think it's the same axle as mine

It's actually on my Leisure model 100 "Naked Truth" but the packaging for the diff was MRP. I still have one NIB, comes assembled with wheel and spare gears. I'll take picks when I get home

Re: early RC12E diff not AE
Thanks for pictures, very interesting!
I think, the overall design for both Leisure and MRP diff is the same. Also the metal parts are the same.
But MRP used different plastic parts.
For the right side diff wheel it is easy, MRP used their own wheel with enlarged center hole so it could used with that diff hub.
The Leisure diff wheel I have not seen before but if you compare with the Thorp wheel, there are some similarities.
Comparing the spur gear, it seems Leisure went with the machined Thorp gear where MRP used a moulded gear. For the thrust bearing MRP used a different cage.
What´s really interesting also, both diffs didn´t use any cone washer or diff spring.

Re: early RC12E diff not AE
Got more informations now. It seems there had been three early diffs, based on the same design. Maybe also same diff hub assembly for all of them.
MRP diff as shown by Jeff. MRP diff wheel, MRP spur gear and MRP thrust bearing.
Leisure diff using Leisure wheel and Thorp/Leisure spur gear. Not sure for thrust bearing.
Thorp diff using Thorp wheel, Thorp spur gear and Thorp thrust bearing. This is also the diff what came with my special RC12E http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=28118
Parts could be exchanged for all of the diffs so maybe you can find a mixed assembly. If you have a closer look, MRP plastic parts look slightly different regarding colour of plastic.

Re: early RC12E diff not AE
Do you have a picture how wheels look like at your Leisure car? Especially the diff wheel.gomachv wrote:Actually.... Does your diff hub setscrew to the axle? I'm starting to think it's the same axle as mine
Re: early RC12E diff not AE
I have a diff very similar to this in both of my RC12E's. Does anybody have any suggestions on cleaning and lubing it?
