So I Raced Off-Road For the First Time Yesterday...

Post by LTO_Dave »

...and loved it!

A couple of my friends and I hit up our local track for practice last night and had a blast. :D

I'm a carpet oval guy, so off-road is something totally new for me. I ran my RC10 with a Tekin G-10 and Orion 14x2 Revolution, and it was keeping pace with 4wd Durango's running low-turn BL setups. My gearing wasn't right and it was getting a little hot, but I don't have many pinions to choose from. So I just cruised for a few minutes at a time before letting it cool off. I totally forgot to back off the timing on the motor a little to see if that would help.

I'm planning to actually race in a few weeks and might throw in a Trinity 27T Paradox since I'll be in the Sportsman/Rookie class. The car handled really well with the box-stock suspension settings and green Barcodes. The driver needs some improvement though.

Here's the track we ran at called Willow Farm RC Raceway:

Cool stuff, just seems like yesterday for me, but it's been a couple years and I still feel excited every time I go to the track now.

Cool track!
I go once a week to our local indoor clay track, and have been for almost a year and a half now, and i still look forward to it every week.
