Wide 1/10 pan car bodies?

Post by RC10th »

Is there any interest in these anymore or have they died off? I found a couple of nice old 1/10 wide bodies but don't really want to cut them up. I found an old Andy's 962 Porshe GTP, an old Frewer Jag XJR6 and a Frewer 962 of some sort that has crazy downforce. It looks like it would make the car stick like glue on an ice rink.

Are bodies like this readily available still or are they dissapearing? I see TBG makes some but doesn't look like many, especially high downforce.

1/10 pan cars or the 235mm 1/10s?

Haven't seen anyone making either in past 15-20yrs; then again not many car kits needing them either.

Tried running Lola type she'll for Velodrome Top Speed on a Trinity Switchblade but they actually make too much downforce once going over 60-70km/h, it starts collapsing and rubbing on the foam tyres... main telltale being missing big squares of paint above each wheel.

Wide 235 bodies. Some of these measure in closer to 245 - 250mm! I can understand the downforce issue in veledrome, but they would work fantastic on small to medium sized tracks.

I've used the Peugot 905B High Downforce on a RC10R5 converted to 235 and it worked pretty well. Aside from that whats available? This 962 makes the 905B look low downforce

I'm interested to know myself, because I'll eventually need a body for my A.R.T. Agitator chassis, which is really wide.

Not many since Pro-10 has been reduced to more of a niche class.

For vintage cars there's McAllister, Stormer Hobbies, and a couple of RJ Speed bodies available.

I was going to go with a full body on my lowered RC10 but couldn't find anything that would fit...need to be like 250 in the front. I'd be interested if I could find something with a perfect fit...ended up going with just a buggy body...

I'd like to find a body similar to this one, which came with my Agitator...I'm not too familiar with this genre of racing, but I believe it's a Jaguar. Can anyone confirm?

That Fast Lane Exotics GT-110 body on eBay will fit the RC10. They were made to fit the Frog and off-road buggies of the mid eighties. Might need a McAllister lowering kit or a front oval tower but there's plenty of room for the long rear shocks in the back.

Some might be put off because they look bulbous and a bit toy-ish but I've always liked them and don't think they're any more ridiculous looking than the modern doorstop bodies being used for 1/12 and Pro-10 cars today.

For my Schumacher Daytona project, I recently (in the last six months!) picked up a body marked as a #211 McAllister Jaguar XKR, but inside the bag is in fact a #123 Jaguar GTP... so they are still out there. You can check the McAllister website for more available options, they seem to be still readily available - http://www.mcallisterracing.com/index_files/Page755.htm.

There was also another group that made, from memory, a Peugeot 905 body, but I've forgotten more than I remember these days....

Pickings are still slim, not much to chose from. If you want a body from a replentishable source your stuck with the 905B or the mcallister bodies.

Bob Stormer's two Parma bodies:

RJ Speed (Bolink) has got a few wide muscle car and truck bodies listed at RC Car Kings. They might still have the mold for the wide version of the Porsche 962 too.

Could also try contacting Andy...I sort of remember him having some wide pan car bodies listed on his site a couple of years ago.

Here's the Andy's 962 GTP that I have. It's a bit over the top but different.
