So was it ever marketed as the C-4? Were there any boxes/instructions/decals with anything other than YZ-10? Was the C-4 name just a nickname for the pre-production/prototype cars or was the name changed? I saw a few magazine ads from Dialed and Parma listing parts for the Yokomo C-4.

Re: Yokomo Off-Road Car Timeline
Wasn't "yz10" just what associated called it? C4 I thought was a slightly different model (wheels, body) and available prior to the yz10
Basically like a tq10 compares to a rc10...mostly the same but with some different peices by the rebadger

Re: Yokomo Off-Road Car Timeline
This thread would be really awesome if somebody could edit the actual timeline and add PICTURES. It would be a great reference.

Re: Yokomo Off-Road Car Timeline
Hi guys,
After reading OldSkoolRC and Slotcarrod's posts, I found this timeline whilst searching the web http://free73.tistory.com/123. It has additional information on the timeline in this thread and also has photos of the cars.
I will try and add photos to the RC10Talk Yokomo Timeline.
As Reggie mentioned, the C4 was the 870C/YZ10. LTO_Dave raises some good questions as to how the C4 was marketed. I have an issue of RC Car Action (December 1988) which has a 4WD shootout in it and one of the contenders is the Yokomo C4. It has the same body and rims as the 1988 870C (not 1988 Associated YZ10) and it mentions in the article that the Yokomo was a borrowed version as the staff could not obtain/locate a version themselves due to its scarcity. My opinion is that the C4 was an imported/special ordered (not by Associated) version of the Yokomo 870C Super Dog Fighter. By whom it was imported and how it was marketed is what I am curious about as the Team Associated YZ10 version was released very close to the Japanese 870C version. Maybe Gomachv sheds some light on this when he says that the C4 was just like the Horizon TQ10 compared to the Team Associated RC10 Graphite.
Hope this helps.
Vin

Re: Yokomo Off-Road Car Timeline
To my untrained eye that looks like a 94 or 95 with a carbon top deck and towers
Very nice is that the one from Australia on ebay?

Re: Yokomo Off-Road Car Timeline
I really have come to enjoy the 870c Yokomos. To revisit the C-4 vs 870c vs YZ-10 names a little bit...
I recently purchased an 870c that was raced at the worlds in '89 (I'll do a separate post about it sometime) and it came with the box and lots of documents including a Japanese language assembly manual and a typed version in English. the Japanese version has the cover in English :

And on the second page note the development team....

One of the pieces of paper in the box was this that shows the pre-production model and on the back there is a price list. It's interesting that they call it the "RPS/Yokomo C-4" I assume that this was dropped in the box by RPS because it had the parts list on it that is nowhere else in the instructions.
I have to think that like the 834 which came out in '83, the "870" is in partial reference to its development in 87. Why they didn't call it the 874 is anyone's guess..
