Re: OrangeRx GR300 dsm are they any good??
I bought 2 of the Orange Rx a while back. I, too , was pretty excited to get them only to find out that they wont work with my Spek module in my 3PK radio.
While I was trying to bind it the pins in the Aux port came unsoldered from the board. Hobbyking has an elaborate return process to get a refund. Now I have r Rx's that dont work, one is broke and one just doesnt work with my radio. awesome

I'm patiently waiting for something that will work with my dx4c. Must not be able to crack the technology

It appears that spektrum has stopped the ability to use the cloned stuff on the newer dsmr radios. It is a shame because I was thinking about upgrading to a 4r. I guess I will be keeping my 3r for a long time to come now.

I am not sure if there is a problem with DSMR newer radios and the orange rx. I know it works will with DSM2 and my DX3S radio. They did not bind with the DSM Spektrum radios, of course.

On the left side of the unit, there are some stickers placed there from the factory, just above the trigger area. they are orange and it shows what specs yours has.
When I got mine back from Horizon, new stickers showing what it will do. The old sticker just showed DSM and surface.

None of the newer series radios work with the orange rx. They attempt to bind but never do. They have done something to prevent them from binding to the non genuine stuff with the DSMR stuff.

The DX3S is DSM not DSM2 or DSMR.

The Gen 1 DX3S is DSM, the Gen 2 DX3S is DSM/DSM2. So you need to know what version you have, or send it to Horizon for a firmware upgrade to make a Gen 1 into a Gen 2 radio. I still need to send mine in, but not in a hurry right nowbiff85ta wrote:RC104ever wrote:I have a DX3S - how can I find out if its DSM2 or not?

You are correct on all that, send it in!!
Well worth it. Might be a few bucks, what look at what you get in the long run.
