Smooth wheel and wing questions??

Post by Skidmark »

Can anybody tell me about these wheels? I'm assuming they're early Schumacher or after market.

Also wondering what I need to fix this wing in place.....I seem to recall some popper style buttons clipped in?

Wheels look like Procat foams not sure if they were schumacher or not. As for the wing you can still get the kit from schumacher here: http://www.racing-cars.com/pp/Old_Cars_and_Parts/Cat_SX/U3298.html not sure if it comes with the "O" rings in the kit if not you can get them here: http://www.racing-cars.com/pp/Old_Cars_and_Parts/Bosscat/U1247.html

Are the different Schumacher wing mounts listed below interchangeable? Or do the hook and screw holes have different spacings?

U832 (e.g. CAT 2000, CAT 2000EC, Fireblade USA)
U2204 (e.g. CAT 3000, Fireblade EVO)
U3298 (e.g. CAT SX, Cougar SV)
U3850 (e.g. CAT K1 , CAT K1 Aero)

The top of these buttons have no holes?!? I remember those elastic bands and hooks now!

The wheels are 2wd narrow so I guess they're for the Top Cat?

Fishing around online, I see there was a 2wd version of the Cat XLS. I presume the wheels are off one of those??
Can't seem to find anything about this car, no pictures or info at all :?

The car in question would have been the Cat XL, not XLS... if you get the XL manual, it tells you how to build the car in standard wheelbase 4wd, long wheelbase 4wd or long wheelbase 2wd. Back in the day, this sort of option was available with a number of 4wd models, to run in 2wd - the PB Mini Mustang was another that offered this option.

The wheels themselves are most likely narrow fronts to suit the Top Cat / Cougar... they'll fit on a 4wd though, if that's what you're looking for.

Thanks Alex, so it was an adapted XL :?
I'm looking to put them on a Top Cat, not sure if they could be early Top Cat rims....but they look right.

Skidmark - I think your wheels might be the chrome XLS ones with the 'chrome' removed I think you can still see some remains of the finish in the screw hole? - The original CAT wheels were the same smooth design but were black - the fronts were narrow - the same width as the 2wd.

Your wing buttons are missing another 'washer' type piece that fits over the part of the button that projects through the u/side of the wing - this locates the pin which in turn the O-ring bands are wrapped around

Aha, good info DerbyDan.
So the wheels aren't really for the TopCat....might use them anyhow.
Don't suppose you've a pic of the wing thing??
Thanks!

No, the TopCat kit wheels are the white 'four spoke' type - the same that came with the ProCat :D

Like these
