ok found this on ebay.. the chassis looks similar to a optima mid and looks to be based that way but have never seen a car like it...

Has a couple 8-32 low profile nuts and a 4-40 tapped hole with a flat head screw. Material is aluminum.

Maybe a damper post for a 10l/12l? Cheetah Racing I know made one with nuts to adjust spring tension and I think one or tow other companies did as well.

In the picture there seems to be shade at one side of the chassis (and only at the front), so it might be that this one took a serious frontal impact and is actually broken (although they usually break at the screws holding the front bumper...).
