Mr. ED's choice (Hobby World Valiant II)

Post by DennisM »

Built with a carbon truck chassis for optimal wheelbase (285mm)
Ball differential and slipperclutch, I even ballraced the driveline and as a little topping, 4 brand new bearings for the front wheels.

Thanks Jeff,
I´m starting to like it too.
Have Yet to decide on the body. I have the uncut original body but haven´t seen it elsewhere so perhaps it should go to TBG.
I´ve got the Chenowth Parma for Frog which is supposed to go the same way.

+1. I like how it puts together a better combination of parts than the cars it clones the parts from. :)

What's the quality of the plastic used for the arms?

Regarding the quality of the arms -
I´ve got o couple of these hobby World things that has been used and the nylon? plastic arms seems stronger than the suspension pins.
One of the rear suspension pins were bent and pulled out of the mount, without breaking the arm.

The new lot, whitch this one is built from, have a few FRP arms in the same color as the PRO-X and it´s likes. I wonder if these are a bit more brittle. There´s even a complete set of arms in black, seeming to be the same material as the FRP ones.

My choice???
 did you buy the lot of 3 that I mentioned on ebay?

How much different is the original body from the kyosho sandmaster one?

Yes, Mr. ED, Your choice - You picked it :D

I´ve only got the diesel version of the Sandmaster body, and that´s a poor fit - It´s about 50mm longer, perhaps because of the reversed bulkhead.

There´s a few more folds on the Valliant body, so it can´t be spot on, even compared to the EP version of the Sandmaster.

Looking at the chassis shape I would expect an astute or desert gator body to fit it well.

I hope you enjoy my choice ;)

There´s a world of difference between those I already have and this, built with slipper, ball differential and ball bearings.
The Ball differential is a copy of the one for the Ultima - coned outdrives and disc.

Was the Outrage/Sandmaster body cloned for the Valiant? The buggy body on the cover of the instruction manual looks totally different.

Yes, the body must be Multiplex´s contribution. But I don´t think they did it themselves - so Who´s done it?

Built another one, this time std. chassis length - all original, except tires.
