Help Identifying Old Battery Connectors
Help Identifying Old Battery Connectors
Hi all,
I have been getting my RC10 Graphite back to running order recently. Going through my old track box, I found that I had changed all of my old connectors over to the ones pictured below, but for the life of my I can't remember who made them. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Dave

Yup, race prep. The later were green and still compatible but a better design. These were notorious for being plugged in backwards when in a hurry

Cool, thanks guys! Any reason to keep them other nostalgia now that I'm moving to LiPo's? I know they can easily be plugged in backwards but I was just always extra careful of that.
Thanks again,
Dave

Re: Help Identifying Old Battery Connectors
I'm still using these old race prep plugs with 2s lipo. Typically they work very well, except I have had issues with a few of the very early style without the guard on the male plug. If the connection is at all loose, they will get hot fast. I've never plugged in one of these backwards. Probably just jinxed myself. If you decide not to use them, don't throw them out.

Re: Help Identifying Old Battery Connectors
I'm thinking about switching them all out. I love the way they look and the vintage aspect but I feel that being 25+ y/o they aren't reliable. Trying to finalize a refurb RC10 and got all the electronics buttoned up and now I get no motor...but I KNOW it works. Tested in another car it works fine...so either esc is bad or the connector and I noticed the female connector going to the motor is a bit melted...it looks ok otherwise. The esc was working previously so idk. Trying to figure out how to test w/o cutting anything.
If I do switch any suggestions on modern connectors? Battery and motor connectors want to switch them all out.

Re: Help Identifying Old Battery Connectors
Since you never received a suggestion here, I'll throw out my two cents and sugggest Dean's. I've never heard anything bad about the true Dean's connectors. Watch out though, there are a lot of knock offs.
While on the subject of plugs and vintage connectors, did Race Prep ever make another plug that was black? I get a few pairs of plugs from eBay in a lot that are similar to Traxxas' current plugs, but I was told that they are Race Prep. I'll try to stick up a photo at some point.
