Need RC10 related info for my rebuild
Need RC10 related info for my rebuild
Working on my build I have run into a snag and need some help. When looking at mounting a body I realize that the Front wheels are too big, the rear slicks are 2 3/4" OD and the fronts are 3" it just doesn't look right. Are there any fronts that will fit the RC10 around 2 1/2" OD? I am running the original axles but I have the upgraded aluminum axles and carriers.
Thanks
Alex

Pictures and a better description of your build are needed to address your inquiry.

Re: Need RC10 related info for my rebuild
Here is a pic of my build so far. The original RC10 had the spiked tires that made them about the same size as the fronts, but without the spikes the rears are smaller than the fronts.

Those are tires from Duratrax back in the 80's. You can tell from the picture that the wheels are original. Perhaps this photo can give a better view as to why I would like to go with smaller fronts. They don't have to be imperial measure as I have a lathe and can turn adapters for the bearings if need be.
Thanks for looking,

Re: Need RC10 related info for my rebuild
I have a set of YOU-G wheels that are 1.5" in Diameter with a total OD of 2 3/4". These might help as they would be the same diameter as the rears. Here is a picture of the YOU-G wheels next to the stock jellies with ribs.

These are in rough shape but the only set I could find on ebay.

Re: Need RC10 related info for my rebuild
If you want to keep it period correct you can look for a set of Pro-Star wide front wheels that used rear tires, or try to find a pair of Duratrax front slicks for 1.4" Tamiya Hornet wheels. Alternatively you can find a set of Duratrax hi-profile slicks for the jellybean rears to make the back tires as tall as the fronts.

What bout a set of vintage AJ's front rims for the hornet with a pair of vintage CRP "smooth" fronts for the hornet 1.5" rims?

Re: Need RC10 related info for my rebuild
Those are ribbed tires not slicks but if you're fine with that then you can just use Proline or HPI bearing adapters or CRP's Tamiya to RC10 front axles. Hornet axles are metric.
Re: Need RC10 related info for my rebuild
Are these Hornet wheels?? I found them at the bottom of a drawer on a Frankenstien I bought from a kid. If they are they are just the right size. I know I probably won't find slicks this size so ribbed are going to have to do. These wheels are worn out but as long as I know what to get I can get some new ones.
Thanks for the help,
Alex

The rest of the Frankencar was Traxxas, took these apart could not find anything other than Good Year on the rubber. Anyone know what these might be?

Re: Need RC10 related info for my rebuild
Ok, so has anyone got any good ideas about wheels that I could use? I would love to have them between 2 1/4 and 2 3/4" . Even if it just the tires I can work with that.

Re: Need RC10 related info for my rebuild
Hi Niterdr,
I have used RJ Speed wheels and tires,

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXWFG7&P=7
but the rears are 2 inches wide and I was going to try these 1.5" rears,
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXTJR8&P=7
you will need these adapters for the rears,
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXA233&P=ML
I have them on my build,
http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=36074&start=15
You need the 3/16 x 5/16 flanged bearings for the fronts
Cheers, Dave.

Those Team Cobra adapters are for a 3/16" rear axles. These from CRP will fit the same 1/4" axle that the jellybean wheels use: http://www.ebay.com/itm/REAR-WHEEL-ADAPTER-Bolink-TRC-Pan-Drift-Carpet-F1-RC10-Hub-RC-Team-CRP-4130-BK-/351259970804?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item51c8b9ccf4
