Old pan car

Post by RC10th »

Not really an Associated but I pulled out the worst condition pan car to put together to run for fun. Feel free to move this to "other makes" if you wish. Some of you may remember the Trinity Switchblade I built for this but decided not to run it. After seeing a few 1/12 running around the other day and people telling me I should dig out the big pan car, it has resparked this.

This thing is rough and has a strange rear suspension set up from my early days of tinkering, It looks like a Bolink Eliminator with I suppose what would be called a 3 link? I pulled the boosted 6.5T out of the reflex to transfer into this. Surprisingly the saddle lipos fit perfectly in the modified Associated cups, the car was modded to accept NiMh saddle packs in AE cups.

I chose this car because it is simple and dirt cheap to get replacement parts or even make parts if needed. I also made a new front axle plate for it at some stage. The only thing that's a concern is the rear axle is solid so I may be on the lookout for a steel rear axle soon.

I also need to order a Protoform Peugot 905B body for it. I think this thing should actually handle pretty well (with a diff)
