RC10 motor help

Post by kemenb »

Hello!
I got RC10 A stamp some time ago, bought it from someone who didn't have a clue how to use it. It came with 18V drill motor and 8 AA ni-mh batteries.
2 servos MM Simprop electronics and digi star am receiver same brand. Don't have original transmitter. Its in very good condition except some smart gay drilled two holes to mount Mantua Modeli beatle body on front bumper. 14T pinion. Got Associated Bellcrank Steering Kit RC10 Classic 6252 to replace searing aluminium DIY mess.
I am here because I need motor advise. Here is a list of stuff currently gathering dust:
HK X-CAR 45A brushed esc
motors:new in box Team ORION revolution Touring 15x2
Yokomo 17x2
VTEC have no idea what kind
LRP S10 Blast stock motor

And brushless set 540L36x65 hith 80A esc, motor fits but gears wont last very long? I want to use eider 2s 2800 or 4s 5000, got six of each. Thanks for the help, if you want I can make additional photos.

The white idlers are a fuse that will blow with anything over a stock motor- and might even go with a hot stock
I would use a set of the new ReRe gears, they are cheap and should help the durability of the trans quite a bit

Make sure you install a bearing set, else I'd stick with a stock motor and plenty of praying

Personally on a 6 gear even with bearings and new idlers I still wouldn't get too crazy, the 17x2 would be plenty IMO.

Motor from RTR LRP S10 Blast is the weakest, I can use that for start. Is 14T pinion ok for those two motors? Is 45A enough for 17x2 or 15x2?

I bought it as a piece of history. Just had to have it in my collection. My goal here is to make it drivebal and make few laps. After that I don't know yet.

14t pinion should be fine to start with. If you go to the 17x2 you'll probably want to drop it to a 11 or 12 tho

I can't speak for the speed control, I'm not familiar with it at all

I installed the unknow motor. My 4A lab power supply did run it, but didn't have enough juice to run 17x2. I assume it is weaker than 17x2 but stronger then the one from rtr s10 blast. Steering is improvised, I will add servo saver some day. That's it for now, restoration will continue piece by piece. But will be a slow process since this is not my primary car.

For ESC, I will go with something stronger like this:
