I just chanced upon this tonight, very thought-provoking:

North America & Europe's problems dealing with this internal terrorism has been due to far too much complacency in the guise of "political correctness". But genocide is happening, thousands are dying in the name of a twisted Islamic ideology, and our countries have to stop pussyfooting around--both internationally and WITHIN our own borders. I like how Brigitte Gabriel sums it up and gets right to the point...and she lived the Muslim lifestyle and learned first-hand how evil the radical side of it can be, and how much damage it can cause--regardless of how large the peaceful percentage are. It's the peaceful percentage who don't have the courage to stand up against it that allows it to fester and spread like a cancer virus.

I was chatting about this last night with my wife. The scary thing is that the terrorists (and let's assume they can be of any race, religion) believe that WE are the ones who are evil.

Perspective is a funny thing - I saw a video recently where a British reporter was talking to a bunch of protestors. One of them (a woman) asked the reporter 'Who are you trying to seduce looking like that?' The reporter got her back up and asked back 'Do I look like I'm trying to seduce anyone?' Again, its all about the perspective and values. One person has one set, another has another set and both are willing to defend it as 'right'.

Can't we all just get along  ?

180 to 300 million radical Islamists dedicated to the destruction of the United States? If that figure where anywhere near true, we'd be in a world of hurt. Nice how she doesn't even bother to entertain the woman's question and instead goes off on a rant against Islam. In all of her examples of the majority being peaceful and the minority extremists killing millions, she forgot one country, the United States.

What happens here when a peaceful group protests an illegal invasion? They're beaten and thrown in jail. There's a reason why Bush Sr didn't overthrow Saddam. He was former chief of the CIA. The reason why he didn't overthrow Saddam when he easily could have is because of what we're dealing with right now. He knew. Unfortunately his idiot son and those he surrounded himself with did not. On a related note, Al Queda has stated since shortly after Gulf War 1 that Western powers need to remove their troops from the Arabian peninsula or there would be war. They kept their word. None of these attacks and hatred should come as a surprise to anyone who's been paying attention. Violence begets violence. Live by the sword, die by the sword. Facts understood since the beginning of time.

That's thought provoking!

If they hate the West so much, why don't they just take their families and go back to what their forefathers built? Stop sucking dry, the infrastructure our forefathers built! Take all your converts with you! You can't even live peacefully within your own religion!

The peaceful ones are always the cowards! The brave hide behind women and children and wear civilian clothes!

That's a very emotional point of view Rod. I prefer to think about politics from a much drier and fact based perspective.

Who exactly is sucking us dry? What does Islamic extremism have to do with our infrastructure? What do the forefathers have to do with any of this?

As far as living peacefully within one's own religion, I believe W mentioned the word crusade around the time of the Iraq invasion. Conservatives love to talk about our fine Christian tradition here in the states. Yet we're as aggressive and violent as an nation the Earth has ever seen. Very much not Christ-like, that's for sure.

If you want to talk about cowards, let's talk about hitting civilians with drones flown from thousands of miles away.

Just to be clear, I'm not defending anyone here. Not them, not us. One thing I've learned in my short time here on Earth, not much happens without a reason. You know, "every action is attended by an equal and opposite reaction" that kind of thing. Not very many Christs or MLKs turning the other cheek on this planet. Look at the reaction you're having. Someone kills someone you don't know and you want to "wipe them off the face of the Earth". Who exactly? What do you suppose happens to the average peasant who's family is blown up (collateral damage) by a drone in a land you'll never see. What do you suppose happens to the people who survive to bury their neighbors, their mothers, their sons, their friends? What would happen to you?

During WWII, Japan was the most evil empire. Every last man, woman and child were ready to die for Emperor and country. Now one of the most peaceful and prosperous countries. Pretty much the same with Germany. Mankind always needs a leader and someone to teach what is right from wrong. Japan and Germany learned that lesson well the hard way! Always look at history, it tends to repeat itself in one form or another. The majority of Muslims, peaceful or not, will always sympathize with anyone attacking Jews or Christians. It has been the same for thousands of years!

Wow. I don't even know where to start with that, so I won't.

Gonna go back to minding my business and refusing to live in fear.

I don't think any of us should live in fear! That would be saying "we give up"! However, we should not stand idly by and ignore potential threats! Sadly, I feel this problem is only going to get worse!

God bless Canada. I feel it more now, since it has come home. I have no chance against a gun, but put me and that coward, fist, on fist, and I would be the one at fault!
