traxxas latest gimmick

For Bashing and fun, I´d take any Traxxas product over Tamiya.
Put some RPM arms on the thing and it´s allmost unbreakable.

Race Competetive, no, - but as an entrance to the hobby, yes.

That's very true, I understand inflation is a small factor, but when you make multiple versions of the same RC that's supposed help keep costs down. Why not pass some of that savings down to the customer. I don't see any innovation at Traxxas anymore.

It better sound REAL good!

These are a pretty slick piece of electronics. They are pricey at ~$300 but well worth it. I have them in two High Lifts and a TF2. They take the place of an ESC and in addition to two different motor sounds, they have a full compliment of lights.

As for this traxxas module, I'd buy one if they start to sell them separately however I wouldn't buy the whole truck just to get one.

In all reality these sound modules would be great in the rock racer rc trucks. It is no different from placing a card in the spokes of your bike to emulate the sound of you riding a dirt bike. I can't be the only one who did this.

I just never realised what it was for - there was this hype of cards in spokes and colored beads (is best I can call them) that snapped onto spokes and moved around when the wheel turned - maybe I was told and forgot, being a small kid, or it was one of those times where marketing simply said "This is cool" and left the rest of the story out.

Over here in the 80's those beads on the spokes were called Spokey Dokeys or something similar to that. As I recall not really popular in high school. Maybe with the younger kids.

We used to peg really thick cardboard on the front forks of our pushbikes for a deeper growl.

Speaking of high tech sound systems, does anyone remember a product called "Roar Power" for your pushbike that was released in the late 70's? It replaced one handgrip on your handlebars with a huge chunk of blue plastic that you twisted like a motorbikes throttle. Made an absolutely woeful sound. We never saw any kids riding round over here with that POS.

Little late to the thread, but thought I could share more info. I actually saw these in action 2 weeks ago at iHobby. I think it is dumb, not my thing at all. But I also thought only little box was making the noise at first. But I was confused because the body made rattling noises as it just sat there.

I got them to take off the body and got better pics. There is more than the box being used. See for yourself.
