RC10GT - Where have all the nitro engines gone?

Post by RC10th »

With my interest back in the RC10GT at the moment I've been looking for replacement engines in case the one I have is bad.

Where have all the .12 engines gone?

OS used to make half a dozen, now they only seem to have two which are onroad engines. Same with the other brands. Who still makes offroad .12 engines?

I've been out of the modern stuff for a while but hasn't 1/10 off road been gone for a while? And even before that left hadn't the engine size shifted torwards the .18 size?

If I'd had known, I have a NIB CZZ

I left RC10GT's to race 1/8ths around the .12 - .15CV/R era, not long after the flat pan GT. 18's were starting to appear.

Not many choices now it seems.

I didn't realize the RC10GT2 was discontinued, bummer.

I've looked at those engines as possible replacements but they are onroad engines. At the end of the day something is better than nothing. Luckily this one seems to have lots of compression but if it dies might be good to buy a used CV-R and buy a new bearing, piston and liner.

All the DO stuff we use are .12 on road. The 353 tuned in 09 ran near 40,000 RPM.

And you can't find them because I have them all lol

$400 is a bit rich unless you were racing competatively, and I don't see anyone running the GT's anytime soon except for dirt oval. TG for the price isn't bad. CV's on the other hand were quite mellow. CV-R's didn't go too bad though.
