Anyone else have a Recreational Vehicle?

Anyone else here have an RV to enjoy the ups and downs of? Lost the seal on the shower skylight over a wet winter 2 years ago. It then stewed in its own mess for the remainder of the winter and spring before I went to de-winterize it one May day. 40% of the roof was structurally compromised from the intake of water and 60% of the interior ceiling was ruined, and the rooftop AC unit was damaged as the water got to the control panel. Just finished it today! I've been working on it as best as I could over the past year, and taking it out this weekend.

Over the past year plus I have replaced the entire outer roof shell with new wood, new edpm rubber roof, all accessory covers, roof trim and vents, rooftop AC unit, 23' awning fabric, rooftop ladder, entire ceiling equipment including all new luian and baten, plus trim and all interior trim panels. Love that it's done...hate that I had to do it.

Very nice. I just have a travel trailer that I tow with my Tundra. I was looking at getting a used one like yours, but looked up the reliability of the Ford V10 and the fuel economy, I got scared. So I went the trailer/pickup way instead. Still a fuel pig though!

I don't have any pure shots of my trailer, but bits of it in other photos. It's a 28 foot Coachman Catalina.

I don't have one, but hope to someday. It has always been a dream of mine to travel the country in an rv. Hopefully one big enough to haul a couple quads and tow a sports car behind.

I have, unfortunately, had the opportunity to work on several of them. Not my cup of tea. It's a weird mix of carpentry, mechanics, and mystery materials.

Looks like you have it pretty well figured out, though. Looks good.

On a more serious note, I don't own one, but definitely aspire to. In 4th grade our history teacher made us sit thru 2 hours of slides (yes slides) of his family's summer vacation out in the western part of the United States in their RV. Rather than boring, I found it quite captivating and immediately decided that I would do the same when I got older and had kids. As fate would have it I now have what I consider to be a rather good job, but it allows no chance of any vacation (lucky to get a 2 day weekend) in the summer time. Irony for sure when you live in the mid-west. The day will come though when I too will be king of the open road! It's just a shame that fuel has been driven so high. Hopefully when I break the chains of summertime oppression, gas prices will have come down so it's not cheaper to fly to Hawaii than it is to RV to the Grand Canyon... Nice rigs fellas!

Rod, our Jayco is about 18,000 fully loaded. I have a few Banks mods such as programmer and full header-back exhaust and got about 15MPG before, and 19-23MPG now. No where near what my diesel gets (28 towing with a 22,000# combo/36 unloaded) but still real decent for a 416 cu V10. I don't have many miles on it, but the reliability has been stellar!

That's fantastic mpg now! Other reasons I decided to choose the trailer was a one time Alberta registration fee (no yearly plate/registration fees) and insurance falls under my truck insurance while towing and my house insurance when parked. Not sure if this is the same outside of Alberta but very happy with our laws. Another thing was I needed to carry bikes, and would have to tow a bike trailer in any case. Now we load all the bikes in the Tundra. I like that I can also drop the trailer at camp site and drive the Tundra around for sight seeing etc. Parking the trailer is a bitch for me, though I get better as I do it more, but have to relearn every spring.
