run away rc cars

Post by tuna.Rc »

Didn't have any type of radio gear or a battery in it, so I know it didn't go out of range and run off

You ever misplace something and it drives you nuts ?

I had a 1/12 academy pan car I didn't use. So I listed it on ebay.
For 3 weeks it sat on a table piled with other ebay cars and parts. The car sells on ebay , I get a shipping label and a box.

Can't find the car any where. I have searched the hobby room top to bottom, searched the garage just in case. She's gone ! Just poof bam gone !

Ended up refunding the buyer , explaining the situation which he took really well.it turns out he had one back in the day and mine was exactly like his !

I hate the feeling of not knowing where a rc went. It's almost like someone came in and stole it or it was accidentally thrown away . Neither are feasible tho.

I've misplaced parts before, but never whole cars... Usually I find one of something I need that comes in pairs (or 3 of something I need 4 of) and can't find its mate. It SHOULD be in the same place as the other one, but it just isn't.

It's that damn RC gremlin! He gets me every time, but one day I left out some Oreo cookies and shock oil for him, and all my missing parts magically reappeared!

I used to know exactly what and where everything was, but lately I've been finding cars that I didn't think I had and thinking I had cars that I didn't have.
I was old school - when old school wasn't cool !

What's really bad is when you find it sitting right in plain sight somewhere you KNOW you looked at least five times. I know the mind can play tricks, but somethings really make you wonder...

It's like when you are working under a car...you put the wrench down right next to you..turn away and it's gone....and across the garage...how the hell does that happen...idk but it does to me all the time!!

This isnt the "run away" the thread is referring to.......But a few months back my friends Losi 5t "ran away" going full throttle.
That's like a 40-50 pound run away bomb.
It was heinous.
My friend....forget it.....a diaper was in order.

Thank God it ended up in the woods n not the other direction.

The biggest I had run away was a Kyosho Vanning. Bent rails and broken arm
The fastest I had run away was a RC250 nothing broken just went off the road and into some gravel

Gotta love old school radios lol

I had an almost brand new T-Maxx 3.3 take off on me...I know, I know...insert Traxxas insults here - I traded for it specifically to trade it for something else...
Well I started it up in the back yard to make sure everything was kosher...evidently it wasn't, because after about 4 minutes of working fine, it decides it wants to see what's happening on the other side of town, and just hauls ass full throttle across the yard. Luckily, there's an empty lot next to me; it crossed that and nailed a tree full bore and flipped a few dozen times, ending up on its top in the street. Only damage was a bent turnbuckle.

My mea culpa to a forum member on here recently was realizing I sold something 6 months earlier but forgot about it.

I had listed it for sale, got him to send me a check vs stupid paypal, and then after turning my hobby area upside down and not finding it, something clicked in my memory and I remembered I had already sold it months earlier! I had to send him a note confessing my stupidity.

Sent his check back and some nip Associated pyramid spike/TQ tires for his trouble.

I don't misplace cars, but I seem to misplace electronics. I forget how many ESCs and receivers I have and what vehicles they are installed in.

I did have one actual run-away when I was starting out racing R/Cs as a teen. My LHS ran parking-lot races and I was going to race my Kyosho nitro Outlaw Rampage Pro ST for the first time. I put it on the starting grid for a warm up lap and after I made the first turn it took off WOT across the parking lot and it kept going until it hit the back of a building on the other side of the lot. Broke the front end off the truck. I had forgot to keep the receiver battery charged!! It was such a bad experience for me at the time I never tried racing again until 10+ years later.
