My son's first RC10 build

My son asked me if he could build an RC10 a few weeks ago. I was excited that he asked, he really didn't seem to care too much for them up until now. So he picked out the "Swiss cheese" worlds chassis and we were going to dye a few parts green, that's his favorite color. He ended up liking the black and white combo so much that he didn't want to dye anything, I was happy with that. So we collected the parts together and I gave him the tools, team car manual, and support to build it. Other than the transmission and the shocks, he built the whole car! Not too bad for a 6 year old! The other night I found a set of wheels that had been dyed light blue at one point and are now fading. I cleaned those up and dyed them green along with a repaired bumper. I put those on and he loved it! Now we have to get the electronics sorted out and I need to paint him up a nice Viper body to finish it off.







It's pretty much a team car build with a cut up Worlds chassis, Kyosho shocks, rere worlds noseplate and steering.

That's great! The RC10 is such a great beginners car. Super durable. My son has yet to break anything on his.

I was really surprised by that at first. When I first got my Rc10, I just couldn't figure out how an almost 30 year old race buggy could be more reliable than my Rustler- that is, once I put steel idlers in the 6 gear.

Thanks for the comments guys. Lately he's driving the rc10 as much as he drives his slash! This car has been a blast for him and I get a kick out of it.
I finished his viper body, we sat down and talked about what color he wanted and how we would mask it. After looking at a bunch of paint jobs, he decided he liked a simple center panel paint job like a car I did a year ago. So here it is:

Your son did a really nice job on that build! Looks like a solid runner. RC has provided great bonding opportunities for my son and me and I always like to hear similar stories.
