The rear came into design later in build, I didnt know how the shocks would mount-(front or back of tower), the shape of the rear tower. I didnt at first know the shape of the tranny brace, or the front mount to chassis, Or even how i was goin to do the wing mount. i decided to use the tail of the pan attached to the tranny brace. after cutting it i wish i had left more material down to chassis. i had to make a fiberglass piece to drop and mount to lower plate. The curve of the alum had to be tweeked a little butt i was excited with the way it came out. I also was excited about the scratches. I think it gave it a little patina. same with the nose plate. Scars that gave her character.

For the tranny the offset with stock set up had motor too far to side . I took an AVID long top shaft. annd dremel- filed the main spacer area off so the bearing would slide all the way to the gear. BUUUUT when i clamped the gear box down it would bind bad. I slid it in the drill press and with a file took off small amts of the raised area next to gear. This was all done with a Precise claliper computer aided--NAAA just small hand fille. when i got the gears running smooth.I found (with more precise commputer aided help) that a washer and a white nylon nut was the perfect spacer for the offset and it kept to the white look..I just love new technology,,, the back of the motor plate had to be taken off then the plate was flipped to front of gearbox. I got asked more times. " are you running the motor backwards."' some people could not see how the motor would work in that direction. with gearbox turned around. the stealthh works so great for this build

Great looking build! I had a mid-motor graphite oval car years ago, it was a great that Associated designed in the ability to swap the top shaft around.

Where did you get the fiberglass? There are several types on McMaster-Carr that sound the same, I am hesitant to order in case I get the wrong one.

Hey Soncho, great job on the avid top shaft ( and the car over all) , it's an idea I had bounced around as well. i was worried about the drive shaft striking the gear cover on full compression of the suspension, how much clearance do you have now?

No issues at all with clearance problems. Well maybe a slight tweek of the gear cover but did not effect it at all. I know the verbage im puting down does not show som of tthe details i did. As im takin her apart to make th CF version i will show some finer details in some areas if you guys wantt tto see..I have a plastics company close that i goto. i check scrap bins and ask for drop fromm jobs. Iv gotton some larrge pieces forr arms to bulkheads to chassis and towers for just pennys on the dollor. I got a piece of g10 large enough to do maybe 8 chassis and towers for less than $20. lat time Im DT go in and check on material again for fun....

I set chassis up so that I could play with diff battery configurations. All of the different buggies today have so many arrangements for elecs using shorty packs.

The Last pic was the position I went with for the race. I turned the battery and tried it but didnt change the handling a lot.. so I put it back. The J concept race was first time on track so i didn't have any track time on it before that. There was so much traction that i had to first wark on loosning up that back end..I still didn't get it rotate enough in corners so lost a lot of time in Quals slowing down to get it to turn. It jumped great. The buggy was a little to stable.

Wow this is amazing! I saw this car on RC-Red.... as you say, the mid-motor concept is not new... but what this does is take into account the development of the modern mid-motor buggy especially in terms of layout & dimensional proportion. I really also like some of your smaller details & efficiency of design.... like that neat wing mount using chassis off-cuts... very

For The starting set up, I used gold shocks with silver springs. #2 pistons with 35 wt front and 30 in rear.
