Finally it's done! Now I'm free to finish off my other projects. Hope you like her. I'll have better pics of the body with good lighting when I start up my gallery.

She's not looking too rusty anymore.

Thanks guys! Glad you like the way she turned out. Thanks to all that helped me out with info. I've learned quite a lot during this build. Just seeing all the awesome builds here was enough to keep me motivated and see this one all the way through. Now to get started on the rest of them.

That's sweet! I wish they had added a neck strap to those radios. Those things are heavy! Although that car is capable of running it never will after all the work I've done on it. It's going on the shelf permanently.

Did you ever post the step by steps on restoring the the steering wires? I can't seem to find it here. Also of the images don't show up anymore, I guess because this post is old. It would really help if can find out how you restore your rusted parts, thanks.

I'll be restoring the original steering wires Monday and will show the steps. This part will be back in action soon!

Some of the images were indeed deleted to make room on my Photo Bucket account. Restoring the rusted metal is easy though. Just take some 600-400 grit sandpaper and sand off the rust until it's nice and shiny. Use a file to true up the ends of the rods for neatness if you like. Then sand again with 1000 grit and polish the rods with Mother's metal polish or a similar metal polish. I would then wax the parts with auto wax to keep them from rusting again. You could also put a light coat of oil on them for corrosion protection as well.

Really useful info thanks. Will sand paper remove too much metal on more crucial parts like a drive shaft, upright shaft, affecting the roundness and diameter? Would their be any cons to it, where tighter tolerances are required between bearing and shaft? Would you sand yours on it on rotating lathe or drill?
