5700kv motor for Worlds Car??

Post by NickTheGreek »

So I order one at the hobby shop yesterday....sv3/1406 5700 kv combo. ...The 110 bucks the combo is going for seems pretty cheap.
Anyway, did I make a mistake with this??
I'm not racing.....A brotha is bashin'....
Being I'm just having fun with it, I figured why not get the fast motor....
Now I'm reading online about heat issues. (Probably people with slightly bigger cars)
Is the motor any good for parking lot/off road fun or is it problems??
What gearing ??
In my classic re re I have the 4000kv geared with a 26t pinion n the thing is moving!!...doesn't really get hot and I'm gettin decent run times....I got a good 40 minutes yesterday (5000mah 30c).

5700....good or bad?? how should I gear it (14t) ?? And what rating 2s would be best??
Thanks.

............

One more thing, being I don't wanna start another thread for another one of my questions...
On my re re classic, I have the jc racing wheels with dirt hawgs....It seems to have a tendency to catch air n flip at high speeds.....so I don't really let it rip on concrete. Any tire recommendations to alleviate this a bit??

Thanks again.

You will love that combo - its what I run in my old RC10 (not re re). Its geared I think 78/24 I think, can't remember anymore. But I was running Dirt Hawgs with the same wheels and all I did was change my slipper setting. The other thing you can do is put some weight in the nose.

I personally like using the Proline Caliber tires, great all around tire.

Hope that helps

The 5700 is a great motor. If you have concerns, start out with all the setting on the mild side and increase until you feel it is right. It is a great feeling having a crazy fast car and knowing you have 20+% dialed out of it. 8)

Good looking out,mah brothas....

This is good to hear.

Being I don't race, and this is a Worlds Car....Aka, the crem de la crem in RC10....I figured it's only right to over power the sumbich.
I was just worried about having heat issues...
That's actually exactly what I want...Having some crazy performance and still knowing there's more in there that I'm not even using. Psychologically, this is good, lol.

How is the Sidewinder3?? Any heat issues??

I have no experience with the 3 but I do have some max's, and 1 & 2's. No issues yet. I think you should be fine for heat as this is not a super heavy vehicle and more than likely you will have it de-tuned to get it driving nice.

I had some heat issues in the summer running the sidewinder 2 - can't comment on the 3. I just added a fan and no problems since. I should point out the thermal protection kicked in only once or twice.

I also mounted it up high on the rear tower for better cooling. I think it comes down to how hard you run it. Haven't had any issues since

No problems with my SV3 so far, been running it in my Graphite with a 4600 (25/81). I haven't tried it with my 5700 yet. The SV1/5700 in my B3, conservatively gear at 19/81 if that helps any.

Thanks for the responses ......

Any of you guys use wheelie bars?? They're not something I want, but I can see them being pretty useful in staying upright. I'm getting tired of watching my classic re re sliding upside down n hearing the sound of my carbon fiber shock towers n shock caps scraping concrete for 10-20 feet.

I'm surprised the combo (sidewinder3/motor) was so cheap. $110......Were they always that low??

I'd use ballast weights in the nose or use a shorty lipo moved forward before I'd buy a wheelie bar. You might be able to let the clutch slip a little more too to help keep the front end down also.

You guys werent kidding.....
Awesome combo.....
Thing is mega fast....
Definitely had some issues with keeping the nose down. I didnt even get to full throttle.. Im gonna have to add a little weight to the nose n probably loosen the slipper a lil. I have it pretty tight, n I'm just starting to learn about this stuff....so it's not I even know how to set the thing.
I'm just doing what I've seen on line.....Tighten until the wheels come up while holding em down n giving a burst of throttle.
I see on castles gearing chart that comes with it, it recommends between something like 14-18t pinion.
I don't even know what they threw on my car at the hobby shop when they hooked up the electronics....I think I'm running around a 21 tooth which I would've thought to be high, but the motor didn't even seem warm.....Looks like I'm good to go.

Love the thing.

Was at the beach parking lot and couldn't resist taking it in the sand.....(Dirt Hawgs on the back n ribbed in the front)....It just tore down the beach like nothing. I could swear my rc10 back in the 80's would get stuck on sand.....Ah, th power of brushless.

Wait til you get the hang of the power and go do some full speed runs - stupid fast is the only way to describe it.

I don't even see how you can do an all out speed run without catching air...
Today, fuggedaboudit....I'd try to go past half throttle n the nose would come up n the thing would take flight like a 747.
I should probably loosen my slipper a lil....Do you put any weights in the front??
