I loved your optima, and the oval truck and this monster. Real glad to have you on the forum and see you building pictures.

Re: I offer a challenge...
Thanks guys!!
The build went pretty quick because there was minimal fabrication because the RC10 is such a great design!!
I've never seen the John Boyer version until the link was posted. Ironically, if I were to build a modified version of the monster truck, I would have done pretty much the same thing.
I'll post additional pictures of the final version.
Thanks again,
highwayracer

Re: I offer a challenge...
Spiderman,
I really like the gear reduction that you used on your build. Is that a robinson/thorp gear adapter for a blackfoot?
I have one in 48 pitch, but if I use the same set up, I'll convert it over to 32 pitch since there won't be a gear cover (dirt may clog up the 48 pitch).
Regards,
highwayracer

Re: I offer a challenge...
Looking through my box of parts the other night, I think I have most of the parts to make a 4wd RC10 monster truck. Well, minus the Clod wheels, tires and adapters. I don't have the time to do it right now, but this might be a long term project for me too. I can't wait to see some of these monsters.
Re: I offer a challenge...
yes......if i remember correctly its a thorp counter gear for a frog.highwayracer wrote:Spiderman,

the funny thing is the top gear cover hole is the perfect place to mount the counter gear.
i had built almost this exact truck many years ago, before there were any decent rc trucks on the market(yea i'm old)...........At that time i ran 2.2 wheels and imex puller tires with a mip gear diff transmission.
The ball diff couldn't handle the torque.
I ran the snot out of that thing till the clod was released.
thx for the interest........any questions just ask
added pics
changed out the shocks and added a hot trick front shock tower.
the platinum front shocks were a bit long for the stock front tower.
looks like its gonna run good but i need to glue my tires so i can twist some dog bones

Re: I offer a challenge...
My monster truck is not going to look very monster at all compared to what you guys are doing.
Halgar, I need some big tires and all the batteries you can fit in a 3x6 area, pronto

He's an idiot. Comes from upbringing. His parents are probably idiots too.
