Re: Harbor Freight Powder Coating Set
I baked it in my kitchen oven. There's not much stink at all.

You really should not use the oven you plan to eat out of for powdercoating.

I know, I just did this one time. Next time I need to powder coat something I'm going to pick up a cheap toaster oven from goodwill.biff85ta wrote:kaiser wrote:doesn't it stink up your oven?

Re: Harbor Freight Powder Coating Set
Many years ago, I needed a wrinkle finish on a gauge pod that fit on the steering column of a car I was working on. I was still living at my parents home, and was in my early teens. That type of paint needed heat to achieve the correct finish. Very late at night, I painted the part in the garage, then went to the kitchen and turned on the stove top. it took about 15 min. and I did get the look I was after, and it looked perfect! That smell was something to be reckoned with however, it took days to get the smell out of the house
I didn't get into to much trouble, but I did learn my lesson well. Never use highly toxic stuff in the house, only in a poorly vented garage
