Just aquired a NIB xx4 Should I build it or?
I just aquired a new in box xx4. I believe it is a regular xx4 with the addition of a graphite chassis. Pics coming soon. My question is, should I build it for the shelf, run it, or just keep it NIB? By the way, this is not the rerelease, but an original.
Thanks for any input!

Normally I'm a build it guy. But in that case, because it's an original, I would lean toward keeping it boxed, or at the most build it for the shelf to enjoy. If you need a runner, buy a re-re or take out a second on your house and get a 22-4.

Re: Just aquired a NIB xx4 Should I build it or?
This is a big debate, here is where I stand
New in box kits are my favorite. I personally like to keep them nib for a couple reasons, one of which is the tires. Exposed to the elements even on a shelf is worse than the sealed bag they are in. I know people will jump on and say that the only reason to keep them in the box is for resale value but for me it isnt- mine will get built one day. I hope to be old and retired when I crack into them, think of it as a retirement hobby. That's just my view

It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas

Re: Just aquired a NIB xx4 Should I build it or?
My experience with NIB Losi stuff is that anything rubber is rotting and screws are rusting. It would not surprise me if the belts are a complete mess, depending on what versions they are. If I leave it in the box, then of course I don't see it decaying.
I'm always torn, I like the NIB concept, but I love building the kits. Unless I store them away where I can't see them, I have little self control

I miss brushed motors in that hazy, everything seemed better when I was a kid, kind of way.

yes that is a tough call. I myself would leave it in the box and aquire another to run if thats what your looking for.

Cheers dood! It was an intense moment doing it, and then seeing all the lovely new bags and bits. Just had to share it - hoping this guy is going to do the same with his new XX4. In fact it might be the one I wanted on ebay a few weeks ago, only $200, but they wouldn't ship to the UK and I didn't get to speak with my 'courier' (Aaron) quick enoughCharlie don't surf wrote: Couldn't agree more!I was darned proud of you for thatjamin wrote:Defo build it! Here are some pics. The only bag that has been opened is Bag A, and it is still complete. The tires look great, and the belts look fine to me too. Hmmmm. Is it normal for the word " Graphite" to look like that on the bottom of the chassis? Maybe turn this into a box art car? Kinwald??

After much deliberation I am going to do one of two things with it, build it and shelf it or sell it to get something else. Don't you love indecision?!!
