Ayk viper shock absorber size
Hi experts
Looking for the approximate shock lengths( front and rear) for the viper.
I am looking for alternative shocks so this information would be useful!
Thanks in advance

Re: Ayk viper shock absorber size
I guess it would be helpful to know the stock shocks' uncompressed length. 3Racing makes excellent dampers in a wide variety of sizes, and if you can find something close to your uncompressed length, you can adjust things 5 to 10 mm or so either way by changing the ball-ends or putting plastic spacers under the piston rings.

That's what he is after- he doesn't have the stock ones to measure. Surely someone does around here...Coelacanth wrote:I guess it would be helpful to know the stock shocks' uncompressed length

Re: Ayk viper shock absorber size
I think if the car was built with only the shocks missing, you could get a pretty good idea for a shock's uncompressed length just by adjusting everything (camber, desired resting ride height) and measuring. Just get a ruler or calipers and measure between the centers of the mounting point holes...if nobody has these shocks, that's the method I would go by. That's pretty much how I got the suspension dialed in for CYANide and the front end of the Barney Optima.

Re: Ayk viper shock absorber size
I think it might be a problem installing 3rd-party shocks on a Viper, due to those weird, extended skinny end-tubes that AYK designed their shocks with. Unless you could fit a long enough ball-end instead...

Re: Ayk viper shock absorber size
I wonder if something like a 1.32 shaft and .71 body would get the length and throw then run a wheel collar to hold the cup on the shaft
