Rit dye an otter box

Post by Typicray@rainmans »

Hey guys, today I got an iPhone. My very generous cousin gave me an otter box to put it in. The only problem is that the otter box is pink and white  . I know I can dye the white rubber quite easily, but what about the pink plastic? I will definitely have to dye it either red or black but will it except the dye well?

Lol, hey, it's a really nice case and beggars can't be choosers. The pink plastic is in great shape so I may just leave it if I get a nice color to dye the white rubber because it is a little dingy.

Yeah, my green/black ballistic for my s4 shows up pretty dirty on the green gel part. Cleaned it a few times til I just said forget it and now just deal with it. Wish I could help you out with the dye questions but just haven't tried it. Worse case scenario is you have to wash it off cuz it didn't take.

Had a pink case given to me from a guy I work with and gave it to a friends daughter that just didn't have the $ to pick up some protective gear for her phone. If I didn't already have mine I'd be sporting a pink s4 though

It is definitely worth a try. And your right, if it doesn't take I only cost myself three bucks and a few minutes cleaning

As luck would have it I held on to this photo of Halgar from just a few months ago. I like to keep it around for those evenings that I'm feeling frisky, but my ol' lady just won't seem to wake up(Not that she has to. I'm ok with working like a thief in the night. She wakes up and says "what happened?" I just say "I dunno. I think you just had a bad dream."... )

All the Otterbox products I have (which are the best brand you can buy IMHO) seem to be hard plastic with a silicone cover, neither of which take dye very well if at all.

That being said, I've never in the history of this forum been correct in any of my answers so why should today be any different??

I was waiting for your posting on this thread- although I was expecting something more along the lines of "how do you get the female otter to sit still" lol
