hello from canada!
Hey all! Well i grew up racing mainly on-road and a little off-road in Toronto canada at indoor track called R/C champ raceway which closed a long time ago. Its been over 10 years since i got out of the hobby, which i kind of regret...Getting back into things its almost overwhelming with the amount of new companies and older companies offering everything under the sun...For example, if you wanted to race 1/8 buggy. You either had a kyosho inferno mp5 or a mugen superathlete. Thats it. Staying on 1/8 buggy....now there is electric 1/8 buggy? Whats the point in that? I thought 1/8 buggys were loud, messy and tempermental things of pure joy! Anyways, hope to find out some helpful info here to this new world! I just picked up a BNIB MBX5R for some local track bashing...cant wait for winter to be over!

Welcome! Make sure you put your location in your profile if you ever hope to gain B/S/T access. Where in the GTA are you located? Got a few silly Canucks here

Wow, Oakville and Burlington guys. I grew up in the former and now live in the latter.
Marlo, not sure how old you are or from what part of Oakville, but we used to race our RC cars on a pretty cool track on land which is now Ford Drive between Aspen Forest and Devon. That was mid 80's after we bought our RC10 at a hobby show in Toronto.

Re: hello from canada!
I'll be 41 in April. I grew up in Mississauga till about 10 years ago. There was a track on Ford drive, just beside the drive-in, but the owner just never came back. I drive by it all the time, always closed. I was thinking last summer to go over the fenceGodSpeed wrote:Wow, Oakville and Burlington guys. I grew up in the former and now live in the latter.

Re: hello from canada!
Before finding this site a week ago if somebody asked me that I'd say "I have an RC10." I had NO IDEA there was such a history, so many variations and such a massive cult following.Superathlete wrote:what chassis do all you guys have? i'm putting together my mbx5r now : )
My chassis has an A stamp. Does that also make it a Cadillac?

Re: hello from canada!
Welcome to the forum, from Alberta! Unfortunately I never got into RC10's, therefore I never acquired a stash of parts to build them...maybe one will find it's way to me and I'll find a way to mod & customize it so it's unique. My first hobby-grade RC was a Frog that I sold to upgrade to a Kyosho Optima, which I later upgraded with a Gold Celebration chassis and to Turbo Optima specs, raced it a bit, then like most of us it sat gathering dust for a few decades before I cleaned it up & restored it. I had tons of parts for that chassis, tried selling them but got no real interest, so I ended up using the parts to build more Optimas that were as far from box-art as possible.
