From what I hear, it was a repro made from a body that had been stepped on and they did what they could with it to make it right, but it was never right from the beginning.gomachv wrote:From what I hear it's a bad repro of a good repro but either way....it proved that TBG was making copies of copies. Not sure if it was a test for them or just worked out that way, but either way it proves that it was a rererere
The "funny" story part isn't funny as much as sad and disappointing....making it "funny"

Re: RC10 Factory Works MIP 93' Worlds Racer Restoration
Alright.....
One of our fellow members gave mrlexan a new uncut rcps mirage body to use to make a mold. Problem was it was stepped on or crushed at some point. Jay fixed it up as best he could, made a mold, and started pulling bodies. A few people mentioned to jay that they thought tbg was making molds from his bodies. So that one was chosen to purchase because there would be no doubt. Sure enough, their body has the same issues..... and its slightly smaller. And if they did it with that one you could probably count on others. Those yoke shells, jamming jumper, etc. But hey, it doesn't much matter anymore.
So if you guys want to know why jay is out of the body business, you're looking at a big contributing factor.

Thanks for the esplanation scr8p.
Those lying copying sob's (tbg). I'm glad I've never purchased a body from them. Always knew about the buzz of quality issues.
I'm sorry Jay is out if the body business. I bought one if his yoke bodies and always planned to buy more. If I hadn't purchased a mirage through Erich way back. I know I would have definitely made a point to buy Jays.
I guess thats similar to what happened to Doug. Always wished I had gotten a few of Doug's painted bodies.
Sorry to derail the topic for a second.

Now, for all I know, tbg had no idea where that body came from unless the purchased it directly from jay. If it was sent to them like so many others are, its possible they just didn't know.

Re: RC10 Factory Works MIP 93' Worlds Racer Restoration
gotta agree that TBG might not have known. Could've just been a greedy member here that bought one from Jay and just wanted more for free
. Could've been a member that bought it for tbg to keep the identity safe of where they got the body. Either way, we'll never really know unless someone admits to it.
Back to the Original topic...For what its worth I like the body paint. I'm thinkin its a fitting tribute to what this car was. So far its looking like a pretty good repro. Been following since day 1 and look forward to updates
Todd

also gotta agree...seems customer service is slipping a bit. Anyone that bought one of these bodies should've complained unless they just didn't know any better. Or just didn't care...Vintagemishal wrote:Well, TBG says that they have never had any complaints about this body and that they would give me 50% off of my next purchase. That is not good enough for me.

Thank you. Once I find the additional decals, correct batteries (I have Orion 2000's, which are not correct), the correct receiver, a correct servo, orange foam in front of batteries, and make a belt guide, I will update some more.

Added more decals to the body. I am going to try to locate some similar numbers and some American Flags today. I think Reggie was right about the wing decal being a Novak.

Re: RC10 Factory Works MIP 93' Worlds Racer Restoration
No worries, I am going to see what I can find. I just have not had time to look. If all else fails, I will order some from Stormer. They just do not have any photos of the sheet, so I am not sure they are correct?

The sheet at stormer is the same one I have. So whatever I would send from mine would be the same as that one

Can you nab a width (outside tire edge) front and rear of that buggy? Also I'm 90% sure that those are the wrong front tires, the rows don't match the diagonal pattern in the pics. Pretty darn sure these are them, Proline 7135-
