Are old tires worth keeping?

Post by tbfoto »

The rear tires on this RC10 are all but bald. Are they worth hanging onto? I know the rims will be reusable but what about the tires? Does anyone keep them just cause the are original?

ive sold "lots" of used tires on ebay for $20-40 bucks, depending on sizes. i really would never use them as i have a lot of like 30 used and new striker tires i got in a sprint car lot, so any on road testing i have a stockpile, although ive only ever used 1 set lol.

I always keep various "runner" tires around. Why wear out perfectly good tires? I also keep my nice tires stored in rubber preservative (not armor-all!) away from sunlight and "air". The shelfers look funny without tires, but...

Actually, I only have five cars "on display" in the house, the other forty-five (or more... :? ) are also hidden from light and air...and the wife. :|

When you see an auction that has over 10 sets of tires in it, the pick is kinda foggy and from far away... you win the auction and get them home and only one set is actually usable then I would say that guy would've replied "No, I wouldn't throw them away".

(This is clearly a hypothetical, I've never bought or sold an auction like that... so don't anybody get offended, dagnabbit!)
RC's are like ****'s... everyone has one... some are just more torn up then others.

To answer your question, I wouldn't keep the rear tires you have on the car in the pic, they are pretty far gone. Even if you were going to run the car, those probably wouldn't get you through the grass in the yard.
