Battle scarred TomCAT
Got this in a trade today - He left with my clodbuster.
No idea on the SWB body, but it´s got a half naked Hula-girl and that´s something.

That ain't no Tomcat! I was expecting a Hirobo
Very cool tho! Does the unprotected belt act like a snowmobile belt?

Well the body is very "interesting"!!!! the rest of the car looks good though, the PK chassis looks like a candidate for re anodizing to me. well done.

Yes, the body is "interesting" and interesting - I don´t recall having seen it before. Looks kind of ProCat inspired with its very rounded cockpit.
I agree, the chassis deserves a re-anodizing - I was thinking of doing it myself, and just accept whatever greenish colour it´ll end up being.
Has anyone noticed the shocks, cross-rolled pattern and different caps, on the boxart - do they exist ?

Do you have a closer pic of the shocks? I can't say I've ever noticed that before.DennisM wrote:Has anyone noticed the shocks, cross-rolled pattern and different caps, on the boxart - do they exist ?
Your buggy has definitely seen a few upgrades over the years. I love the PK chassis set, is it normal SWB length or LWB. I've never seen a SWB PK chassis before. It also looks like someone has replaced the rear arms with Procat versions.

Yes, the PK chassis is LWB, but I think the body was from when it was a SWB.
The buggy has had two owners before I got it -
1. The two brothers that did all upgrading, Torben & Lars Brämer, whom later started import of high end raceproducts to Denmark - Novak and Trinity were some of the brands.
They were kind of local to me as they raced in a club not more than 25 km from me - BUT we had our own track, so we didn´t mingle much with these big-city types
They never made it further than competing national.
2. A kid like me, just in it for the girls and the cocainum.
Here´s a couple of pictures of the boxart shocks

Re: Battle scarred TomCAT
Those definitely look like some version of the Brimod shock on the box, never noticed that before

They do indeed...I had a set of those on an Optima parts car I bought from a fellow forum member...I polished them up and sold them to another fellow forum member.DennisM wrote:Has anyone noticed the shocks, cross-rolled pattern and different caps, on the boxart - do they exist ?

Re: Battle scarred TomCAT
As you say Paul I think they are Brimod shocks, I have a used set somewhere which I must dig out, I wanted to bid on the set that sold last year(I think) but the price was enormous. Brinod shocks were made near to me in the West Midlands UK.
Re: Battle scarred TomCAT
One thing about those shocks. The triangular bleed caps definitely do look like regular Brimod caps, the bodies however don't look like they are threaded to me. On the fronts you can see what looks like a plastic spring adjuster.
So yes they look like Brimod's, but maybe early ones without threaded bodies?

Re: Battle scarred TomCAT
Here are my Brimods in bits, I think those shocks on the box are Brimod but made for Schumacher maybe as prototypes? The main seal on the Brimod is the same as very early SWB dampers and the arangement is very similar, I think there must have been some copying, if it was authorised or not is another matter.
Re: Battle scarred TomCAT
Interestingly, your Brimods are different compared to the set I used to have. The top cap section that looks unthreaded on yours, is much longer than was on mine. So there may be a few different styles then perhaps.Synchrocnc wrote:Here are my Brimods in bits, I think those shocks on the box are Brimod but made for Schumacher maybe as prototypes? I still regret selling my set a few years ago
