Current Team Car racer...

Post by Jay Dub »

Well, I have had a few requests to post current pics and setup of my current team car platform. It is hard to believe that I first built it 3 years ago. It has gone through some revisions and fine tuning however. Enjoy -Jeff.

I have an AE setup sheet from their web site. Maybe someone here can download make it editable. I also think we should have a folder for vintage racing setup sheets. It would make it much easier to share. Say a folder for setups in each of the sections. E.G. RC10, Kyosho, Schumacher, Traxxas, Losi, etc. Maybe the mods can setup? LMK if you have any specific questions. -Jeff

Very cool. Looks similar to what I had in mind except I'm going to use standard rear arms. I'm surprised how much weight you put in it and the rear camber link is shorter then I expected, but then again it is a short arm car. Thanks.
I was old school - when old school wasn't cool !

Very cool! I like it a lot.

If you can, do you mind posting pics with wheels and body as well. I would love to see the whole enchilada.

Thanks for sharing.

Sure, I will post a couple of body on pics. Just remember that is 3 years worth of running . And yes the camber link (rear) looks short, But is nearly the same length as the arm, so camber progression is similar to modern cars. You may have noticed the "middle" hole in the rear bulkhead for the camber link. This was done to allow the weight to stay transfered on the outside rear wheel while exiting a corner a little longer. This allows it to finish the corner a little better. I switch between it and the inner hole depending on track and tire. I know that it doesn't seem like much, but remember this is a short arm car. Small adjustments in tie rod locations are magnified when compared to a modern racer. Also remember that on modern cars camber locations are routinely changed by .030 of an inch to see tangeable results on the track. That means that if our arms are half as long, half that amount of adjustment (.015) would provide similar results. -Jeff

Nice rear tower. I'm going to use that design for inspiration if you don't mind. It's perfect!

I actually started a setup sheet a while back, but lost it with some computer problems. I have adobe to edit pdf's, I just gotta get the inspiration to redo it.

Don't remember. I did however shorten them slightly to accomodate the B4 hubs. -Jeff

Most shelfers don't look that good! My beater/ club racer/ budget runner sure doesn't.
You obviously take very good care of it.
. . . you have Associated Green Slime for brains. And not even new Green Slime, but old gooped out Green Slime.

Did they have 2 outer mounting positions, like the XXX-cr?
