COD/ARMY RC10T

Post by justinspeed79 »

This is the 10T "COD/ARMY" truck I built for my friend's 10yo boy's Christmas present. This tub was taco'd pretty bad and generally beat to crap. I had to do a lot of bending and hammering to get it straight. Up close and personal you can see the tooling marks from the hammer. I figured it was good enough for a 10yo's first rc. He loves Call Of Duty and anything military related so that's what I went with. Nothing fancy, but not a bad first truck imho. I wanted to strip and shine the shocks, but ran out of time.

ST15 body, Futaba T2PH radio, fps148 steering servo, Dynamite Power Pulse ESC, Midnight2 motor, and a brand new Duratrax Onyx 3000. I am pretty impressed with this battery. Last time I cycled it took almost 4000 mah and I'm getting 30+ minute run times with this setup.

I use Faskolor/Createx paint. The color is just something I mixed up. Had some light blue lefty over from another paint job and basically just added some yellow and a touch of black. I meant for it to be darker to match the chassis, but it lightened up more than I expected when it dried.

Thanks Marlo. I am a fan of COD too, although, to be honest, the same old same old is getting old. I hear Ghosts is better, haven't played yet.

Update on this truck. I have been working on it plenty! Tally so far, broken battery cup, rear bulkhead, shock rod ends, lost the spring cups, broken tie rods, severely bent universal, stripped spur gear, and probably more I'm forgetting. Body is trashed. Fried the midnight motor, installed a Reedy sc500/3300kv brushless system, a week later his brother drove that into a ditch full of water, fried. And that's pretty much where we're at now. I ordered him a new body, and he is waiting for his tax returns to fix everything else.

Ghosts has its fair share of issues. When I started playing it I was always complaining about the spawn points and the severe camping. I think I'm used to it by now but the cheating and hacking is still out there. Like seriously why do you have to cheat at a fun game? It's just a game? Ruins everything. On a side note, don't worry about getting all your guns in one class golden....I wanted to see if there was a diamond class. All my assault weapons are gold and true disappointment when I put in all that work for nothing.

Sounds like they are really enjoying that truck...lol. Where's the damage or carnage photos?

I'm re-playing Black ops on the hardest level, just to see if I get a third bonus Zombie board.

Those bodies look good for the money, can't see in pics mate but how much higher than the chassis bottom does it end up once mounted like you have?

Sorry, haven't been taking pics. I'll snap some on this next round of repairs and post them.

This one sits a bit higher because I didn't do any mods to anything other than the body post. Actually, I even used spacers under the front body post to raise the font. I don't have this truck here right now, but IIRC it sits about 5mm higher in front, and about 10-15mm higher in the rear.

On this one I cut clearance holes in the body and got it very close to normal hight, and as I mention in the thread, it could be lower with some more minor mods.

Looks like UPS killed my bodies from tower hobbies. Tracking shows damaged in transit to Alabama, sent to Houston anyway, rejected and returned to sender in Houston, 20 miles away.

I can wait for the bodies, but I had other parts for other cars in there that I was hoping to have running this weekend. :x
