RC10's in the snow

Here is a short clip of my son and I driving our gold pans in the snow. I wasn't driving because I had to film but you can see my car in the background.

Tons of fun but I noticed a few things

- his car is pretty stock and is really a mish mash of parts but it really is quite well sorted
- my front end I think is too stiff and there is a lot of under steer in these conditions
- despite my having more tread and better tires, he could go faster and straighter.

I find that bashing like this gives me a chance to tweak and refine the cars so that someday we can race!

Both cars are running Castle brushless and ESC's

Actually I do have a set of wheels with Tamiya tires on them that work great

Spikes are fun! The possibility of losing an eye makes it more realistic.

The tires were belted with two layers of plastic cut from soda bottles. I used a pick heated with a torch to melt clean holes through the tire and plastic, then the screws went through the plastic and tires from the inside (obviously). Worked perfectly. Tires did not expand at all, and the plastic was strong enough hold the screws in. Istopped using them when the first screw came out, but they lasted for a long time under some severe abuse. The engine was a very powerful Team Orion .18, and thre truck weighed about ten pounds with all this ice buildup on it.
