But since you're going the resto-mod route, why downgrade? :P

kyosho golds are old. technically, associated golds are new........ sorta (rere).

in all of my years, other than using those god awful HG lexan shock bodies, i have personally never had a single problem with building or tuning an associated shock. so guys can try and tell me how far superior a kyosho gold shock is compared to it, but they're just wasting their breath.

but to be honest, this car will probably get velvets or something like that. although, with my track record for getting cars built in a timely manner, who knows what shocks will be out on the market when i'm actually ready for them.

To be honest I've never used an associated shock. My only experience was briefly owning a static worlds car on a shelf. Back in the day I drove an optima mid, which obviously had the lovely gold shocks. I was very impressed with them at the time and they were my favorite part of the car. So when it came time to build my personal ideal RC10 I wanted to include resto-mods cherry picked from other brands, not just AE. That way one model car sums up more rc memories for me. Other random items are in the mix too. Still in development.

ps

Anyway I hope you do something interesting with the Kyosho bits. My bet is bolting them to a gold pan.

Also how about bolting an optima transmission and suspension to a gold pan? 4x4 RC10 the easy way!

Why bother with the RC-10 parts? Just take an Optima, cut the RC-10 gold alloy tub in two, and mount each sufficiently trimmed RC-10 tub half to the sides. That way the suck will be kept to a minimum. :P

There's a rumour going around that there's a Cougar2 in his future, for balance - the craptasticality of Kyosho with the supermegaawesomeness of the Schumacher should even out to average, Associated level.

I should know, I started the rumour...

So the ultima shows up today and I take him downstairs to the shop to meet some of the guys. I see a couple of them whispering to each other. All of a sudden they surround him, OIN and B1.5 held him down, ol' blue took his shirt off and started to tear... his... ass... UP!!!

It was all part of an apparent initiation, and it looks like he has been accepted. They all went out for some shock oil.
