It's been quite a long time since I didn't start a new '10 project and needed a new shoot... So I started this project around a blue custom milled chassis I had laying around for a very long time. Well, here's it's weird and brief story: got it from a guy whose friend had to go to Irak when the sodding second Gulf war started there. He left all his stuff to a friend who sold the lot to me. According to me, this very chassis is one of the best examples of what should be done to lighten the good old tub without hampering it's vital functions. Sides have been carefully cut, chassis is nicely milled "à la World's" and the thing was then completely reanodized blue. The front kick-up is also milled but not custom anodized blue... Because the bottom of the chassis has quite some scratches, I didn't want to go and build a perfect shelf-queen with brand new parts. So I took a few random used parts left over from other unborn projects... The idea here is to build a hop-upped '10 with early period options, try to mock-up something that could have existed back in the day and try to only use non-NIP parts, sometimes refered to as "used-useable", lol. For now, the car looks a bit toyish with all those colours, but it's different from everything else I've seen and build and the colour combination immediately made me think of the stars and stripes banner, hence the name of the project. What you see below is only a temporary mock-up, details may change a bit during the true building process. Any comments or suggestions are pretty welcome!
(sorry for the crappy pictures, had very few spare time lately, I'll get better shots later)
The magic recipe for now:
- Custom milled chassis and front kick-up
- JG front bumper
- White Andy's front arms
- Rebuilt MIP tranny
- Early Hot Trick rear shock tower (2 holes for shock mounting, I have another version with 4 holes)
- Factory Works battery holder
