Info on RC10 'sprinter'?

Post by THE H.P FREAK »

HI!... I would like to build one of these RC10 sprinters. I have the body and upper wing. Thats about all the info i have on this. Can anyone else give me some more info on this. What i really need is better pics. The only one i have is this one :

Image

Does anyone know what the very front wing is from? Also how is the upper wing supported? Looks like the same kind of wire that holds up the RC10 rear wing.

Looks like a stock RC10 with a sprint car body and wing to me, nothing special...

HI!... I know that. I just need more info on the body. How was the front wing mounted? Was there a decal sheet for the body or did u decal it yourself with decals of your choice? Does the front supports for the big wing just use RC10 rear wing aluminum poles? Or does it use the front nose tubes?

I would guess that they used a 4-40 tap and threaded holes in an extra set of rear wing tubes, then mounted them to the chassis, probably through holes drilled to match the distance between the stock rear wing tubes.

The decals were probably from Autographics or Parma or somebody like that.

Here are some pictures from a Budget Racer column in the November 1989 issue of RC Car Action. I like my idea better LOL

wing tubes would probably have been too short, but maybe a set of nose brace tubes, would be ideal, installed where the front battery tray would mount.

there is a thread on this same body and question somewhere in the rc10 section. Can't quite get the search to work with me on this one...too many sprint cars and I don't have the body number right off hand to search for.

Meant that I didn't have the painted body number to search for but can see where my haste read differently:oops: . It was in a thread about a paint job on a sprint car of a local driver and they wanted to know how to mount the wing. In that thread was a link to a similar subject with ways different guys did it.

It was in a topic I moved into the rc10 section awhile back when we were moving all the material from the old general forum into the current one. I did find the thread you posted on this a couple years ago asking for more info on this body though...just not the one I wanted to find.

if you ask me, like joe mentioned, they used nose brace tubes for the front of the top wing. but i think they're on top of the battery box. probably used front shock pin set screws to attach them.

top wing is most likely just sitting on the piano wire for the pics, since there is zero wing mounts in it. the front wing is a small buggy rear that is probably just taped in place. they used that same chassis for pics of the other sprint car body they sold so no reason to make it permanent just to take a couple pictures.

Are either of the tub-chassis sprinter bodies available anywhere, maybe as repro's?

Bolink body i believe front wing is stock rc10 wing in your pic.Top wing and wire and stock rc10 wing buttons used in that pic and wire goes in stock wing tube.I used to put a set screw in wing tube to hold it in place.don

HI!.. TBG makes the body and driver as a kit. AE still makes the large top wing and you use a small RC10 rear wing for the very front wing.

And search autographics for Zodiak bear stickers or other cool themes that are period correct or have that period look.

HI!... Just did. Came up with nothing. I have a set of vintage Parma Hardee 's sponsor decals I'll be using.
