Graphite Chassis Questions
Graphite Chassis Questions
Hey all,
Couple of questions on RC10 Graphites:
Regarding the rear motor plate, is there some kind of seperate gold aluminium piece that bolts between the chassis and the motor plate heatsink? As in the tub has the bend in it at the back, but the graphite chassis are flat, so is there another bent aluminium piece that replicates the bent rear of the tub?
And secondly, I have a graphite chassis that is very close to associated stock, however it doesn't have the machined AE logo in it. Is this how spare chassis came (no milled logo) or do I have another brand?
Cheers
Jim

i have a mint graphite 6 gears, it does not have the motor guard: the chassis is drilled but not countersunk for it.
This part is really hard to find : last time I see one on the bay, it goes around 50$.

Re: Graphite Chassis Questions
I do still have some MINT black rear motor guards for sale. Gold ones are a little bit difficult to find and pricy. PM me if any interest

Re: Graphite Chassis Questions
Here's some pics of the chassis I'm talking about. All holes line up exactly, but it doesn't have any holes for the battery cup to be in the aft/forward position..

Re: Graphite Chassis Questions
WOW, what's up with that? Prototype?
Slap a bunch of 6010 parts on it with some Parma graphite shock towers!
Very cool, do not drill!

Re: Graphite Chassis Questions
For the battery cup you can use double sided servo mounting tape, so you don't have to drill. As for the rear motor guard they pop up on eBay every once in a while.

Re: Graphite Chassis Questions
did you put that "one" battery box whole in the chassis, or did you get it like that?
this is the motor guard.

My bad, sorry, I'm at work right now and the security system doesn't allow me to view that particular chassis, it seems nice though from the comments

Re: Graphite Chassis Questions
Strange chassis indeed now that I can see it at home, no logo, missing holes for the battery cup, rounded edges at the front... and it looks like it's a bit longer, maybe it was designed for a truck??? Where did yo get that?

Re: Graphite Chassis Questions
Hey Guys,
I got it from my local LHS quite a few years ago (got most of my cars in 2003 before they got too expensive! Can't keep up with most of the prices you guys will pay now
)
The holes line up perfectly with a standard golden tub car chassis, plus it's only been drilled for a 6 gear. My guess is it's a graphite chassis for the CE edition of some sort, just not too sure it's an AE one due to the no forward battery cup.
I did notice the one hole there in approximately the same place as the battery cup, but I think it is for the aerial mount, as I definately haven't touched it since purchasing it, and can't think why a company would only drill one battery cup hole.
After temple's "Very cool, do not drill!" comment, I'm gonna make sure it stays well away from my drill!
That Composite Craft chassis is cool BTW.

Re: Graphite Chassis Questions
It looks like one of the original rc10 graphite chassis. I remember we use to double tape the battery back then. I think the hole that is drilled is for the antenna mount.
My 2 cents.
