RC10 DS?????????

Post by THE H.P FREAK »

HI!... A few years ago i bought a RC10 off of ebay. When i received it, it had a road car body on it. I also noticed it wasn't your typical RC10. I put it on a shelf and forgot about it. Surfing ebay the other night a came across a old manual that had this weird RC10 on the cover. It was called a RC10 DS (duL sport). I know absolutely nothing about this car and never knew AE made a road car on the RC10 chassis. Can anyone give me more detailed info on this car or perhaps a link to some reading material on it? Mine is a black pan with a black/green Mustang body on it.

Yours isn't ALL DS

This is a stock one. Yours has long arms not DS arms

It was a way to rejuvenate the old platform. They were the last aluminum pans sold. They came in electric and nitro....
Here is mine:

and this is what they look like in the box 8)

That DS appears to have standard long arms on it, DS arms are generally much shorter... but then again noting all the white parts it's actually more then likely a team car wth DS parts on it.

HI!.. So do you think it was a RC10DS and the previous owner installed the long A arms on it? I think i have the shorter black arms here. It came with a ton of extras. Wouldn't the wider stance make it handle better due to a wider track? This one has a 'B' stamping on it.

It has a white stealth and rear bulkhead, I think it was a late stealth car that was converted to onroad, most of the ds's I see are all black.

It also sold as a conversion so you could reuse any old chassis. I think you'll find most were a C stamp

HI!... Well i looked in my RC Room and found a black pan 'C' stamp chassis, black stealth, attenna holder, trans brace, battery cup. I guess i will need a rear black bulkhead. I have a ton of black front/rear 'A' arms. Can someone post up a pic of the proper ones needed for the DS? Do they still make a body for this? Also do all the DS's use gold bodied shocks? Any source on original wheels?

Stock bodies are impossible but some around here have found a couple hpi bodies that fit well.
Shocks were gold or hard anno, .56 body with special short shafts.
Sport had dogbones, team had universals
"Qualifiers" had foam tires, all the other were rubber tires. Very hard to locate now

Here are the arms

HI!... Cool, thanks for the info. This might be a cool project to do. Is there any other info on the DS that goes in to great detail? Kinda like the years of the RC10 thread here on this site. I like things to be pretty accurate when i build a car .

Haven't seen anything like that on the DS. There were a lot of mash ups using the conversions so a lot of what you see out there is custom.

The one in the pic I posted above is stock minus the mechanical speed control, so if you need any pics or have questions let me know.

HI!... I'm talking right now with the guys from TBG about reproducing the RC10 DS Mustang body. Mine is in really good shape and will be sacificing it so they can make a mold off of it. Next thing will be decals. Are these still available?

Gotcha! So let me get this straight you have to sacrifice your uncut new body so they can make mold to start reproducing them. So do you get one maybe even two back being that you sacrificed an original piece?
