Ok, so what was the purpose of reducing the part count of the transmission? Smoothness? Efficiency? I guess that makes sense for battery mah of the time. No?

They take out one of the bearings to keep the outdrive from binding once supported. I have never had an issue but apparently it's smoother that way

Sorry to change the subject, but do you guys think the compound of the kit tires will be similar to the original? If I were to buy a pair of old school Proline knobby tires would they be much harder than what will come in the kit?

I hope the re-re kit tyres are more like the current RTR tyres and not super soft

And I bet there'll be some after marked tyres very soon

On the subject of tyres
It looks like the car on the front of the manual are using Tamiya Grasshopper paddle tyres

Has any of you ever mounted Tamiya tyres on the AE wheels ?

Yes, it works but you're supposed to trim off the bead on the inside to get the tire to seat properly (but I didn't when we ran Pro-Line waffle tires on the old clay oval at the LHS).

Alright, end of Sept, I've been pretty patient about this, but I'm getting a bit antsy. Where the hell are these? Come on....

I hate to say this but it never was about selling kits, it's about rereleasing the parts. Most of the parts are available now before the kits are out, that is the opposite of how it usually works with Associated. Usually the kits come out and you wait forever for parts support.

Exactly, I'm ready to throw my tantrum! I'm surprised I was able to make it through the many weeks that have passed since the announcement!

Another possibility is that they are waiting for a few of the last parts to arrive, and that's why we haven't seen a couple of the new parts listed yet
