Yes, the human rights capitals of the world... :oops:

I agree that they need to sort their own laundry.

The Syrian govt was murdering rebel women and children already, but the world only became outraged when the idiots used chemical weapons on the rebels? And that is the trigger for the US to consider involvement but bullets and missiles are ok? I don't get it.

Syria=oil=war=Halliburton.

LTO, your depiction of the man behind the curtain should be <insert big oil company>.

Part of my job is meeting with State Reps, and I have met with every State Rep in central Florida. Very few politicians work for (or listen to) the people. Most work for special interests (campaign contributions). Yeah, a red state.

BTW did you know your elected officials have pensions and free health insurance for life??? That is not a result of health care reform.

If obamacare is so awesome why aren't they all "allowed" to be a part of it? You would think at least the man that gave it a name would be on it.

I hate politics. It pisses me off just thinking of all the stupidity in daily life, but bring politics into it and I swear I feel like this chick

Your elected officials have far better, and free, health care.

Considering the ongoing NSA debacle, where they are now going after any company that may be providing services that impedes on their (illegal) investigation abilities (e.g. companies that provide secure email services in the US are forced to close - hello democracy! :roll: ), you have to wonder whether the president isn't just a puppet for a shadow government ran by nutcases who think creating an oppressive secret state police is their god-given right.

It is a bit depressing when the crazy conspiracy theories on the US government basically turn out to be right (excluding the UFO's and aliens :D ). And it's also depressing to see that in the name of protection against terrorism US citizens basically don't seem to care. Looks like the problem is not "Obama the Control Freak", but the whole system, including the voters.

Regarding Syria, Obama has managed to get stuck in a corner by first claiming there's a red line that shouldn't be crossed, namely if chemical weapons were used (I believe that was the right thing to do, BTW), but not ensuring that was a plan in place when that actually happened (stupid, IMHO, especially considering Afghanistan/Iraq, where the same kind of claims turned out to be false). So now he can step on the toes of China and Russia and get involved in another war that might end up badly for the US, especially if Assad dumps his chemical weapons on Israel, or the US will look like a farce to the rest of the world by claiming to be the defender of good and yet letting chemical weapons being used by a dictator.

The right thing to do would be to go through the UN, instead of considering it like a third wheel as the US seems to be doing . If the UN inspectors turn up evidence of chemical weapons, Russia and China may still veto a resolution, but they will look like the culprits in the eyes of the public, and the US can then happily gather a coalition for a rightful response to the use of chemical weapons by Assad, without having to face the problem of being called an einzelganger.
