I could never have one like that; the blue chassis trucks are just to easy to modify, and I cannot resist the temptation!

Haha yea, i've thought of all the cool things I could do, but I'm committed to keeping this one as-is.

Progress:

Got the transmission mounted, and the rear bulkhead cleaned up and installed:

Shock tower, arms, dogbones and hardware all cleaned up well, and there was no corrosion on the metal hardware. All hinge pins installed without binding and the arms drop under their own weight how I like:

And for fun I installed the fuel lines. I'm 99% sure that the truck was originally supplied with neon yellow fuel tubing, but I'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong!

And finally a roller! I used plastic polish to clean up the wheels. They have a few small hairline cracks, so i'll order a new set eventually. These came up pretty good though, and the tread is near new:

Anyone know the best method to clean up/blacken tyres? Armorall? Shoe polish?

Next up is electronics and detailing the body.

as far as yellow fuel tubing I had one that way...my first one. Over the next 2 of the same truck as yours they were a see thru goldish yellow and a see thru blue so I'm thinkin they used what the vendors were distributing maybe

Simple Green is not only a great cleaner, but it also softens the tires like traction compound.

Shoo-ee that looks pretty! WD40 shines things up nice. It holds a shine for a long time too. You just have to be careful not to use too much or it will create a perpetual oil slick.

I have a question, did all RTR's come with the blue anno chassis, also if they did, were any with a blue "tub" style chassis?

The blue tub was only an aftermarket part. No kit came with it.

All of the rtr's used the same flat blue chassis. That chassis was unique to the rtr's. There never was a rtr tub chassis truck, and like Romulus22 said, no blue tub kits. They were factory team options.

Progress:

All electronics worked perfectly when I tested them, so it was just a matter of cleaning the nitro residue off everything, clean/check the mounting hardware and coil the leads. I mounted it all up, and presto, completed truck!

Next up, I wanted to lightly polish and wax the body. I used the following products:


Mothers Spray Wax and PlastX Polish.

Both items are very gentle as I didn't want overly abrasive compounds on the body. I think it came up really well for a 10+ year old nitro truck body


After Detailing.

And finally... On the truck! The red looks washed out because of the lighting in the kitchen. Rest assured it isn't faded at all. I'll try to get some better photos eventually.

Keen eyes will notice the red antenna tube. Pretty sure the box art truck had a red antenna, so that's what I went with.

Rear.

So now the truck is more or less done, what next? There are still a few small loose ends which I'd like to tie up. These include:

*Front shock mounting hardware - I'd like to replace some select parts due to slight corrosion.
*New chassis - This one is in good condition, but I'd love a new one.
*Nose struts are slightly the wrong colour.
*Tune the shocks pre-load.
*New wheels - these have small cracks.
*Possibly new shock bodies, as there are some faded anodized areas on the rears.


So I'll keep you guys updated as new parts come in. I also want to take some better pictures of it, as the above aren't that great.
