Yeah its a pretty big running area located under the FDR drive on the east side of manhattan.romulus22 wrote:That's a pretty big running area for where you live. Never would have imagined that.
It is nice blacktop pavement but its a bit dusty. you have to get it right after the rains, lol.
Oh and its not cool to hit the highway supports.

Ok in my boredome i toyed around with some 1.9's on the DS "pinky"...
I mounted 1 HPI street rubber tire onto a Dick Cepek 1.9 Crawler wheel and slapped it on the front of the DS.
The tire fit the wheel rather nice and the wheel is a beadlock so no more glue!

This was just toying around.....but i got ideas now.....
UPDATE ON THE SPARE PARTS NITRO DS PROJECT
I installed a set of dog bones and polished up the drives.

Installed a new set of NTC3 blue aluminum shocks that had been laying around tool box for a little over ten years, lol. Also RPM blue nuts and ball end cups all around

Rear shocks...stainless steel screws all around

I just noticed three of your tires are facing the wrong direction
HAHAHAHAH you got good eyes man.
in my defense...those are roller wheels. They will not stay on or be run when im done with the build. If I ran the car on those wheels they would probably blow off the rim. They are partially glued on some areas and not glued in other. The wobble and are slightly distorted. I have a set of new foam wheels but wont mount them till its time to run.
Im trying to keep to the original wheels but if that doesn't work out, I have a set of sc10 hubs waiting to do there job on the DS.
will keep you posted

Re: RESTO MOD - RC 10 NDS / 69 Camaro Z28
Another DS added to the stable....this time a carbon fiber rendition...I was really close to making this a nitro DS but decided to keep it as an electric car.

Motor/Esc will definitely be a brush-less setup for low maintenance.
Some goodies were purchased but have yet to be mounted' front & rear carbon fiber shock towers, carbon fiber tranny brace, and a carbon fiber bumper. These were had at RCCARBONWORKS .com.
to be continued...

THANKS!!!!hawgfanman wrote:Very nice! I'm jealous of those CVD's! Where did you find them?
They came with the DS when i purchased. This was a roller...it was built for the shelf to show off a body and not intended to run.
I think it was too cool to keep on shelf half complete so i cleaned her up and im working on getting her up and running the way she should have been setup from the beginning.

Update to the Carbon DS:
Well i got some Carbon Fiber goodies from RCCARBONWORKS. Got those on there easily. Motor will hopefully be ordered next week. Going for a brushless setup.

Now for a delightful surprise. I started organizing some my DS spare parts and there is a SPARE PARTS DS part 2. Its lacking a few items but those are easily attainable. Im starting with a blue tub GT chassis. Here is the start for a future nitro DS build.

Re: RESTO MOD - RC 10 NDS / 69 Camaro Z28
UPDATE on SPARE PARTS DS Parts Deux
The blue tub chassis is for a GT. Unfortunately the GT chassis is longer than the DS chassis. This created a problem with wheel base and bodies. I want to be able to use muscle car bodies on the DS so im resorting to using an original DS black tub chassis i got off the Bay. So the process of moving the parts over has already begun. pics soon.
In the meantime here is my latest acquisition...an All Original RC10 Nitro DS with .12 thunder tiger engine, hard anodized team shocks, ball bearings all around, and a tuned pipe rather than the stock silencer. The car is mint with original tires, still soft i might add. The engine requires break-in. I polished up the tuned pipe (it was raw aluminum) and mounted the HPI Challenger body i had. ITs been waiting for a car to go on, lol.
